Forest Service Seeks Public Comment for Preliminary Off-Highway Vehicle Grant Applications

SAN BERNARDINO, Calif., January 15, 2016 –The San Bernardino National Forest will be seeking public input for their upcoming State of California Off-Highway Motor Vehicle Recreation Division (OHMVRD) grants that will be submitted on March 7, 2016. California state regulations require public input prior to the preliminary application deadline in this fund allocation process. The agreements support Off-Highway Vehicle (OHV) management activities on the national forest, including operations and maintenance, law enforcement, development, planning, restoration and education and safety.

The State of California Department of Parks and Recreation and the San Bernardino National Forest have maintained a successful partnership for more than 30 years, with funding assistance for well-managed OHV recreation on National Forest lands. In 2015, the Forest was successful in obtaining over 1.5 million dollars in grant funds to provide the public with world-class OHV recreation opportunities.

We are encouraging the public to provide suggestions for grants that will better the OHV program. Two meetings will be held on the following dates at these locations:

February 3, 2016 – 6:00 to 8:00 pm
San Bernardino National Forest Supervisor’s Office
602 S. Tippecanoe Ave. San Bernardino, CA

February 10, 2016 – 7:00 to 9:00 pm
Sizzler Restaurant
1461 S. Rimpula Ave., Corona, CA

If you are unable to attend the meetings, or have any questions, the Forest Service would like to receive your input to this application. The preference for receiving comments is by email.
