Or you could just drive to the south end of 173 park and be soaking an hour before daybreak. In 2012 had kind of a stressful day so packed up my gear to arrive at the trailhead shortly after midnight. I arrived at the springs about two AM while needing to leave my leds on the entire time since there was no moon. It was hovering around 30 F when I left, but when I arrived more like 25 F. After watching the sun rise in the Anniversary pool and then taking long nap it just does not get any better. I anticipate another stressful day coming up soon.
