...WINTER STORM WARNING FOR THE MOUNTAINS LATE TONIGHT THROUGH
FRIDAY EVENING...

.A COLD WINTER STORM SYSTEM WILL BRING HEAVY SNOW TO THE
MOUNTAINS TONIGHT THROUGH FRIDAY EVENING. AREAS OF LIGHT SNOW
ARE LIKELY TODAY...BUT THE HEAVY SNOW WILL BEGIN TONIGHT AND
CONTINUE THROUGH FRIDAY. SNOWFALL RATES OF UP TO 2 INCHES PER HOUR
ARE POSSIBLE WITH HEAVY SHOWERS...MAINLY FRIDAY. THE SNOW WILL
GRADUALLY TAPER OFF LATE FRIDAY NIGHT. HOWEVER...SNOW SHOWERS WILL
CONTINUE OVER THE MOUNTAINS SATURDAY AS A SECOND COLD UPPER LEVEL
LOW MOVES ACROSS SOUTHERN CALIFORNIA.

* TIMING...TONIGHT THROUGH FRIDAY NIGHT.

* SNOW LEVELS...LOWERING TO AROUND 3500 FEET BY FRIDAY MORNING AND
REMAINING VERY LOW THROUGH SATURDAY. SNOW LEVELS WILL LOWER TO
3000 FEET IN ISOLATED THUNDERSTORMS AND HEAVIER SHOWERS FRIDAY
INTO FRIDAY NIGHT.

* SNOW ACCUMULATIONS... 4 TO 8 INCHES BETWEEN 4000 AND 6000 FEET
WITH 8 TO 12 INCHES ABOVE 6000 FEET...WITH 12 TO 18 INCHES IN
SOME AREAS.

* WINDS...SOUTHWEST TO WEST WINDS MOSTLY 15 TO 25 MPH WITH GUSTS
35 TO 40 MPH...LOCALLY HIGHER NEAR CRESTS.

* VISIBILITY...LOCALLY BELOW ONE QUARTER MILE IN HEAVY SNOW...
BLOWING SNOW AND FOG.

* IMPACTS...TRAVEL WILL BE HAZARDOUS DUE TO SLIPPERY ROADWAYS AND
POOR VISIBILITY IN HEAVY SNOW...BLOWING SNOW AND FOG. TRAVEL
ALONG INTERSTATE 15 THROUGH THE CAJON PASS AND INTERSTATE 8
THROUGH THE SAN DIEGO COUNTY MOUNTAINS WILL BE IMPACTED AT TIMES
FRIDAY. RESIDENTS AND TRAVELERS INTO THE MOUNTAINS SHOULD BE
PREPARED FOR HAZARDOUS DRIVING CONDITIONS.

A WINTER STORM WARNING FOR HEAVY SNOW MEANS SEVERE WINTER WEATHER
CONDITIONS ARE EXPECTED OR OCCURRING. SIGNIFICANT AMOUNTS OF SNOW
ARE FORECAST THAT WILL MAKE TRAVEL DANGEROUS. ONLY TRAVEL IN AN
