Newhiker, as long as hikers take normal, obvious, common sense hiking precautions (such as not flat out sprinting, watching your step, etc), free hiking either the Bradford Ridge Trail or the Bowen Ranch Trail poses no problems whatsoever. To be clear, free hiking is allowable on both trails.
