I have heard DCHS described as a "muddy hole" This description was 3rd hand but I was going to drive there from Palm Springs and only had a few days there and did not want to give up a day with a "90?" mile drive to see a mud hole. Is it muddy? and is the climb back up to Bowen Ranch a real challenge? My wife was stiff after we climbed the hill back up from More mesa Is the Bowen ranch climb MUCH tougher?
