In case some are unaware, The hot springs are at the center of the legal medical marijuana movement. And just as I expected yesterday 4/20 at 4:20 p.m. several legal medical marijuana users lit up at that exact moment. The sweet smell filled the womb pool area. As the pain these folks suffer seemed to go up in smoke.
Of course, I was distracted by all the beautiful women which seemed more important at that moment. I had just helped 2 -18 year old Israeli citizens cross the creek on my shoulders. They were in the peak of their prettiness and glad to be at the springs for their first time. Of course, the float was not around.
OK, I will admit it is hard for an old ex-pot head like me to say NO. A pretty woman helps, two pretty women helped more. I did not know what had just happened until 4:30 and the smoke cleared some. That is how fascinated I was by their stories about Israel and Europe they told me about there and then. It was all good.
I got to the springs via the Bradford ridge trail at 3:00pm. The creek was about 2-3 inches below the sandbag that dams the serenity pool near the creek when I got there. Just after 4:30 the winds began to blow and hard. Then the clouds started to sprinkle then the wind blew harder. And while in the serenity pool with these 2 pretty women I witnessed the creek climb @ 6-8 inches. Along with a surge of the foamy stuff. Of course I warned every one that a storm was moving into the area and many prepared to leave, including the Israeli women.
I wondered if some one was turning the water valve up at Lake Arrowhead or if it was raining upstream.
There were several other pretty women who take advantage of the compassionate use act passed by California voters too. And they too were leaving as the weather changed quickly.
The wind blew so hard the rain hurt my face while climbing the Bradford ridge. I passed several hikers who left an hour before me. When I got to the Kinley creek it had risen by at least one foot. When I got in my car hail hit my windows very hard. So hard I became concerned about damage but found none.
Otherwise another beautiful day at my favorite hiking destination.
