...PACIFIC STORM TO IMPACT SOUTHWEST CALIFORNIA THIS WEEKEND...

A PACIFIC STORM APPROACHING FROM THE NORTHWEST WILL LIKELY BRING
RAIN...MOUNTAIN SNOW AND GUSTY WINDS SATURDAY AFTERNOON INTO
SUNDAY. RAINFALL TOTALS SHOULD RANGE FROM ABOUT HALF TO ONE INCH
WEST OF THE MOUNTAINS WITH ABOUT A QUARTER TO HALF AN INCH IN THE
DESERTS. THERE COULD BE LOCAL LARGER AMOUNTS NEAR FOOTHILLS AND
MOUNTAINS. RAINFALL AMOUNTS WILL BE QUITE VARIABLE DUE TO THE
SHOWERY NATURE OF THE PRECIPITATION. THE RAIN COULD CAUSE LOCAL
FLOODING OF POORLY DRAINED STREETS AND LOW LYING AREAS.

CHANCE OF THUNDERSTORMS SUNDAY AS THE COLD AIR ALOFT DESTABILIZES
THE ATMOSPHERE. THERE COULD ALSO BE WATERSPOUTS AND FUNNEL CLOUDS
SUNDAY. GUSTY WINDS WILL ACCOMPANY THIS SYSTEM...ESPECIALLY IN THE
MOUNTAINS AND DESERTS.

THE SNOW LEVEL WILL LOWER TO THE 4000 TO 4500 FOOT RANGE WITH LOCAL
SNOW ACCUMULATIONS OF 5 TO 10 INCHES AT THE HIGHER ELEVATIONS. SNOW
COULD LOCALLY AND BRIEFLY GET DOWN TO ABOUT 3000 FT IN CONVECTION.
SNOW...BLOWING SNOW AND DENSE FOG WILL REDUCE VISIBILITY TO NEAR
ZERO IN THE MOUNTAINS AT TIMES SATURDAY AND SUNDAY MAKING TRAVEL
HAZARDOUS.

PEOPLE SHOULD STAY INFORMED ON THE LATEST FORECASTS.
