RIVERSIDE COUNTY MOUNTAINS-SANTA ANA MOUNTAINS AND FOOTHILLS-

...WINTER STORM TO AFFECT SOUTHWEST CALIFORNIA FRIDAY NIGHT AND
SATURDAY...

A STRONG STORM APPROACHING FROM THE NORTHWEST WILL BRING
RAIN...MOUNTAIN SNOW AND STRONG GUSTY WINDS FRIDAY NIGHT THROUGH
SATURDAY. RAINFALL TOTALS WILL RANGE FROM ABOUT A HALF TO ONE INCH
IN THE COASTAL AND VALLEY AREAS TO NEAR TWO INCHES ON THE COASTAL
MOUNTAIN SLOPES. DESERTS SHOULD GET ABOUT A QUARTER TO HALF AN INCH
OF RAIN. RUNOFF WILL DEVELOP QUICKLY AND THERE COULD BE LOCAL
FLOODING OF POORLY DRAINED LOW LYING AREAS AND SMALL STREAMS.

THE SNOW LEVEL WILL START OUT QUITE HIGH ON FRIDAY
AFTERNOON...AROUND 8000 FEET. IT WILL LOWER TO NEAR 5000 FEET NORTH
AND 5500 FEET SOUTH BY SATURDAY AFTERNOON. THERE WILL BE LOCAL SNOW
ACCUMULATIONS OF 8 TO 12 INCHES ABOVE 7000 FEET IN THE
SAN BERNARDINO AND RIVERSIDE COUNTY MOUNTAINS.

STRONG SOUTHWEST WINDS WILL INCREASE FRIDAY NIGHT AHEAD OF THE
STORM...ESPECIALLY IN THE MOUNTAINS...DESERTS AND COASTAL WATERS.
SNOW...BLOWING SNOW AND DENSE FOG WILL REDUCE VISIBILITY TO NEAR
ZERO IN THE MOUNTAINS AT TIMES. THERE WILL ALSO BE A CHANCE OF
THUNDERSTORMS SATURDAY.

SHOWERS WILL TAPER OFF SATURDAY EVENING AND END LATE SATURDAY NIGHT.
PEOPLE IN SOUTHWEST CALIFORNIA SHOULD STAY INFORMED ON THE LATEST
FORECASTS.
