...WINTER STORM WARNING FOR SNOW AND STRONG WINDS IN EFFECT FOR THE
MOUNTAINS OF LOS ANGELES AND VENTURA COUNTIES THROUGH EARLY
TUESDAY...

.SNOW SHOWERS WILL CONTINUE ACROSS THE MOUNTAINS TONIGHT...MAINLY
ACROSS THE NORTH SLOPES. THE SNOW LEVEL IS FALLING QUICKLY...AND
COULD LOWER TO AS LOW AS 1500 FEET OVERNIGHT. IN ADDITION...STRONG
NORTHWEST WINDS GUSTING TO OVER 60 MPH COULD CREATE DANGEROUS
WHITEOUT CONDITIONS ACROSS THE NORTH SLOPES...INCLUDING INTERSTATE
5 NEAR THE GRAPEVINE. THE COMBINATION OF VERY COLD TEMPERATURES
AND STRONG WINDS WILL PRODUCE DANGEROUS WIND CHILL READINGS AROUND
ZERO DEGREES IN THE MOUNTAINS.

DUE TO THE VERY LOW SNOW LEVELS EXPECTED TONIGHT...INLAND
PORTIONS OF SAN LUIS OBISPO AND SANTA BARBARA COUNTIES WILL BE
VULNERABLE TO SNOW SHOWERS...BUT LITTLE OR NO ACCUMULATION IS
EXPECTED. IN ADDITION...MANY MOUNTAIN AND WIND PROTECTED VALLEY
LOCATIONS WILL BE VULNERABLE TO DANGEROUS BLACK ICE CONDITIONS

A WINTER STORM WARNING REMAINS IN EFFECT UNTIL 9 AM PST TUESDAY.

SNOW SHOWERS WILL CONTINUE TONIGHT INTO EARLY TUESDAY...MAINLY ACROSS
NORTH FACING SLOPES. TOTAL SNOW ACCUMULATIONS OF 8 TO 16 INCHES
CAN BE EXPECTED...WITH THE HEAVIEST SNOW ACCUMULATIONS EXPECTED
ABOVE 5000 FEET.

THE SNOW LEVEL IS LOWERING RAPIDLY TONIGHT...AND WILL LIKELY
BRING THE THREAT OF SNOW SHOWERS TO THE ENTIRE AREA...INCLUDING
A LARGE PORTION OF INTERSTATE 5 NORTH OF CASTAIC.

IN ADDITION TO THE SNOW...THERE WILL BE STRONG NORTHWEST WINDS 25
TO 40 MPH WITH GUSTS TO 65 MPH. THE STRONGEST WINDS WILL BE FOCUSED
THROUGH THE INTERSTATE 5 CORRIDOR. THE COMBINATION OF STRONG WINDS...
AND CONTINUED SNOWFALL COULD CREATE DANGEROUS WHITEOUT CONDITIONS
AT TIMES ALONG INTERSTATE 5 NEAR THE GRAPEVINE.

AS VERY COLD AIR SPILLS INTO THE REGION TONIGHT AND TUESDAY
MORNING...THERE WILL BE A HIGH PROBABILITY FOR DANGEROUS ICY
CONDITIONS ACROSS THE MOUNTAINS... INCLUDING INTERSTATE 5. THE
VERY COLD AIR MASS COMBINED WITH STRONG WINDS WILL LIKELY CREATE
DANGEROUS WIND CHILL READINGS NEAR ZERO DEGREES.

PRECAUTIONARY/PREPAREDNESS ACTIONS...

A WINTER STORM WARNING FOR HEAVY SNOW MEANS SEVERE WINTER WEATHER
CONDITIONS IS OCCURRING. SIGNIFICANT AMOUNTS OF SNOW ARE FORECAST
THAT WILL MAKE TRAVEL DANGEROUS. ONLY TRAVEL IN AN EMERGENCY. IF
