Splinters Cabin is actually a pavallion now about a 1/4 mile from the 90 foot steel bridge the PCT uses to cross Deep Creek before it heads to the Holcomb Valley. I've hike this area a couple of times last month. You reach it by taking Hook Road (by the Jensen Market in Cedar Glen) from 173 and driving to the end where it has become a very rough dirt road. It dead ends at a numbered Forest Service Road. There is a map of the roads in the area at the junction. Take the left toward Bacon Flats, cross the creek and on the right about 1/4 mile is a parking area and a locked steel gate. About 1/4 mile down this road is the trail to Deep Creek from Splinter. The picnic pavillion is whats left of Splinters Cabin. Lots of fishing in the area and the PCT Bridge is a couple of hundred yards down this side creek. This is about 8 miles upstream from the DCHS.
