My only comment about hiking down nude is that I do it most of the time (at least when it's warm enough) that I go. I am not there regularly as I am on the East Coast but get out there several times per year. Once, about 2 or more years ago, I encountered a CA state fish and wldlife ranger on my hike out from the springs and he threatened to arrest me for lewd behavior. Apparently to him nude=lewd. I protested that it is acceptable to be nude in the area but did so quietly. I agreed to put some pants on and after a scolding he let me go. Nasty but in my mind better to yes him to death and go on my way than get a citation, especially when I live 3,000 miles away.

Since then, I've hiked in and out nude and had no problems. Camped nude too. I've seen federal (BLM and Forest rangers) and neither had a problem with nudity, in fact they would strike up conversations.

Good luck on your trip.
