Dennis J. Kucinich: It's All About Oil
..........As you know, the Administration set several benchmarks for the Iraqi government, including passage of the "Hydrocarbon Law" by the Iraqi Parliament. The Administration has emphasized only a small part of this law, the "fair" distribution of oil revenues. Consider the fact that the Iraqi "Hydrocarbon Law" contains a mere three sentences that generally discusses the "fair" distribution of oil.
Except for three scant lines, the entire 33 page "Hydrocarbon Law," is about creating a complex legal structure to facilitate the privatization of Iraqi oil. As such, it in imperative that all of us carefully read the Iraqi Parliament's bill because the Congress is on the record in promoting oil privatization.
This war is about oil.
We must not be party to the Administration's blatant attempt to set the stage for multinational oil companies to take over Iraq's oil resources.
The Administration set several benchmarks for the Iraqi government, including passage of the "Hydrocarbon Law" by the Iraqi Parliament.
And many inside the beltway are contemplating linking funding for the war in Iraq to the completion of these benchmarks, including passage of the "Hydrocarbon Law" by the Iraqi Parliament.
The Administration has once again misled Congress by mislabeling the draft law as an oil revenues distribution law, just as the Administration misled Congress about the Iraq war.
The war in Iraq is a stain on American history. Let us not further besmirch our nation by participating in the outrageous exploitation of a nation which is in shambles due to U.S. intervention.
The fact is that except for three scant lines, the entire 33 page "Hydrocarbon Law," is about creating a complex legal structure to facilitate the privatization of Iraqi oil............
The Iraqi Hydrocarbon Law is THE TRUE MISSION of this 5 years and counting Iraqi US Occupation. For these fraudulently created PSA's to remain viable and active, US troops will have to remain in Iraq to " assure " that they are carried out. Lies and more lies will continue to be " created " by this corrupt and immoral administration, in order to keep the US military presence in place in Iraq, until there is no Oil left worth STEALING by brute force and deception. However, one day, perhaps, the people of Iraq will finally realize fully the reality that thier country was invaded by the US based on a pack of lies, thier infrastructure being decimated by a rogue empire bent on instilling a long term occupation force, all to use thier lands as a base operations for future plunder of world resources, most specifically of the vital energy of oil and gas. Then Iraqi's may find the will to rise up by the millions, face thier invaders, and reclaim thier country, thier oil resources. By any ethical assesment, they would be right to do so. The people of the US live large, at the brutal expense of much of the rest of the world's poor souls. With our vast global corporations, and men of power and greed who call the shots, we wreak havoc on the lands of others, to plunder thier resources and to keep our party going full speed. All of this, is carefully hidden from view in large measure by the corporate controlled media of our time. Just like the squeaky clean presentation of our modern wars, displayed in the TV media like some kind of cool video game, with americans never having to see the twisted bodies, and blown up body parts of the vast numbers innocents. No photos of the continuous line of dead men and women coming back in coffins draped in American Flags. No nightly scenes of the devestated bodies of Iraqi men, women and children. No, that kind of thing might send the wrong message to the American Public. Best to keep us all happy and content going to the malls, with no worries or thoughts about the intense tragedies being suffered all around the world because we need so much. Best to keep our thoughts focused on important stuff like what Paris Hilton is doing. And its all because, THE AMERICAN WAY OF LIFE IS NON NEGOTIABLE, as that great leader ( or rather man of evil ) Chenny once said! Will the American public ever stop this maddness? Well if our past is any indication, probably not.
