Day fire picks up at its western edges
The Day fire was relatively calm most of Saturday but began burning fiercely at its western edges in the late afternoon as Santa Ana winds blew as hard as 50 mph through Los Padres National Forest.
The fire is no longer advancing toward Fillmore and Piru, as it had been on Friday, said Dan Bastion, a spokesman with the Day fire command center. Instead, it is moving west, deeper into the Sespe Wilderness area of Los Padres National Forest...........
