...HOT WEATHER FOR INLAND AREAS TO CONTINUE THE NEXT FEW DAYS...
...PERIODS OF SHOWERS AND THUNDERSTORMS THE NEXT FEW DAYS...

HIGH PRESSURE CENTERED OVER NEVADA WILL CONTINUE THE HOT WEATHER FOR
INLAND AREAS THE NEXT FEW DAYS. HIGH TEMPERATURES ARE EXPECTED TO
PEAK TODAY...THEN BEGIN TO SLOWLY COOL BY MIDWEEK. TEMPERATURES
TODAY ARE EXPECTED TO REACH AROUND 105 IN THE FAR INLAND VALLEYS...
105 TO 110 IN THE UPPER DESERTS...105 TO 110 IN THE LOWER DESERTS.
THE MOUNTAINS WILL REACH AROUND 100 AT THE LOWER ELEVATIONS WITH
TEMPERATURES IN THE UPPER 70S TO LOWER 90S AT RESORT LEVELS. AREAS
CLOSER TO THE COAST WILL BE COOLER WITH HIGHS BETWEEN 85 AND 95 IN
THE COASTAL VALLEYS...AND IN THE 70S AT THE BEACHES.

SLOW WEAKENING OF THE HIGH WILL BRING MINOR COOLING MONDAY THROUGH
WEDNESDAY...ESPECIALLY NEARER THE COAST AS THE SEA BREEZE
STRENGTHENS IN THE AFTERNOONS. A WEAK TROUGH OF LOW PRESSURE
APPROACHING FROM THE NORTHWEST WILL STRENGTHEN THE ONSHORE FLOW AND
BRING MORE COOLING THE LATTER HALF OF THE WEEK.

THE HIGH PRESSURE...COMBINED WITH A WEAK UPPER LOW OFF THE SOUTHERN
CALIFORNIA COAST...WILL BRING A STEADY FLOW OF MID AND HIGH LEVEL
MOISTURE INTO SOUTHERN CALIFORNIA FOR THE NEXT FEW DAYS. THIS WILL
BRING A CONTINUED CHANCE OF SHOWERS AND THUNDERSTORMS. DUE TO THE
DEPTH AND DRYNESS OF THE ATMOSPHERE BELOW THE CLOUD BASES...NOT MUCH
RAINFALL IS EXPECTED THROUGH TONIGHT. HOWEVER...SOME OF THESE
SHOWERS AND THUNDERSTORMS WILL PRODUCE ISOLATED WIND GUSTS TO 40 MPH
OR MORE. AS THE ATMOSPHERE SLOWLY MOISTENS TUESDAY AND WEDNESDAY...
THERE WILL BE GREATER POTENTIAL FOR MORE SIGNIFICANT RAINFALL FROM
THE SHOWERS AND THUNDERSTORMS...ESPECIALLY OVER THE MOUNTAINS AND
DESERTS.

THE SHOWERS AND THUNDERSTORMS ARE EXPECTED TO GRADUALLY DECREASE AND
END DURING THE MIDDLE TO LATER PART OF THE WEEK AS THE CURRENT EAST
TO SOUTHEAST FLOW ALOFT BECOMES SOUTHERLY...THEN SOUTHWESTERLY
BRINGING DRYING ALOFT.

IF YOU ARE PLANNING OUTDOOR ACTIVITIES...TAKE PRECAUTIONS TO PROTECT
YOURSELF FROM THE HEAT. REDUCE OUTDOOR ACTIVITIES IF POSSIBLE...AT
LEAST FROM LATE MORNING THROUGH EARLY EVENING. WEAR LOOSE
FITTING...LIGHT WEIGHT AND LIGHT COLORED CLOTHING. DRINK PLENTY OF
WATER AND AVOID ALCOHOL. TAKE ADVANTAGE OF SHADE AND AIR
CONDITIONING WHENEVER POSSIBLE. ENSURE THAT CHILDREN...THE ELDERLY
AND PETS HAVE PROTECTION FROM THE HEAT. NEVER LEAVE THEM IN PARKED
CARS...EVEN FOR A SHORT TIME. TEMPERATURES CAN QUICKLY RISE TO LIFE
THREATENING LEVELS...EVEN IF THE WINDOWS ARE PARTIALLY OPENED.
