Agency seeks public input on grazing permits

The U.S. Bureau of Land Management has released seven environmental assessments analyzing proposals to renew 32 cattle- and sheep-grazing permits on public lands in Southern California.

The proposals involve eight locations in the bureau's Barstow management area and 18 in its Ridgecrest area, spokesman Doran Sanchez said.

Under federal regulations, the bureau will consider renewing the permits for 10 years.

Copies of the assessments are available for public review at bureau field offices in Barstow, Needles, Ridgecrest and El Centro, as well as the bureau's California Desert District Office in Moreno Valley.

Copies also are available online at:

The deadline for sending comments is May 10.

For information, call the bureau's district office at (951) 697-5220.
