Well, Karol Wojtla, AKA John Paul II, autocratic and conservative pope of the Catholic Church for over 25 years, was not one to endorse "radical" ideas such as birth control, gay marriage or even clergy marriage but did see social nudism as a human activity that was not inherently evil but a valued social good if practiced positively with reverence for oneself and other persons. He was, IMHO, writing about our clothing optional culture as practiced at DCHS
I can think of no other modern (or ancient) religious leaders who viewed public nakedness in such a positive light.
