Paso Robles is over an underground hot water aquafier in places. The water has a high sulfur content much like other springs on the Central Coast. Deep Creek Hot Springs is at the intersection of two faults and the water comes from very deep underground. Geothermal areas are commonly found in association with active siesmic zones.
