The larger (1"-4" roots that went down on that side of the cleared granite were hacked by one individual that shall remain nameless. I did not agree with what was done in this manner.
There were a few discussions of what needed to be done for the tree that touched these subjects.
1) A raised rock wall embankment to retain the soil
2) On top of that retained soil something to deter people from stepping there and compressing the root system
3) Diverting a bit of the flow to the new pool to the tree as it had been prior to the new pool being made.
I sort of fell out of going to DC after the pool was built. There was always some nagging sense that I should go back and help with this endeavor but life pulled me in a different direction.
Just happy the tree is still there and alive.
