Planning on a return to DCHS this week - I've always parked at Bowen but would like to try the Bradford Ridge trail this time. I've found a wide range of opinions on the length of that route - can anyone tell me approximately how long the Bradford trail takes to hike as opposed to Bowen? I want to spend the night near DCHS, but Bowen is not an option, and I don't want to violate the laws regarding camping at the creek itself. (Myself and everyone I camp with are 100% zero impact / leave no trace types, including fires, but I don't want to be part of the reason why they close the place down.) What is the law regarding how far away from the water we have to be? Given that, are tby Tom Foolery - Deep Creek Hot Springs, Apple Valley, California
QuoteWizard We crossed the creek at the rock crossing and since it was a bit tricky crossing the wet rocks I took one of my pooches Piper ( a Miniature Pincher ) to a spot where the creek was only about 4 feet across, then I leaned out and tossed him over to the flat granite on the other side but he lost his balance and rolled over into the creek. He was in the rapids for a bit but then swam outby Tom Foolery - Deep Creek Hot Springs, Apple Valley, California
Does this mean a Monday trip up to the springs from the Riverside area is a bad idea?by Tom Foolery - Deep Creek Hot Springs, Apple Valley, California
Deep Creek saved my life last week. I've struggled for a long time with bipolar disorder, and life has been terribly hard for me recently. Last Thursday evening I hiked down from Bowen Ranch with minimal supplies, in the hope of finding some sliver of peace. I was not alone Thursday night but I kept to myself in the Anniversary Pool, smoking a lot of medicine and lost in my thoughts. Just paid Mike for 2 nights, hiking down soon - would be nice to meet some of you - I will be in glasses, short hair, freezing to death!by Tom Foolery - Deep Creek Hot Springs, Apple Valley, California
How is the road holding up right now? Is it passable via 2wd or should I take the longer route?by Tom Foolery - Deep Creek Hot Springs, Apple Valley, California
Haven't decided but I might bail on the family and go to down to the Creek - anyone else planning to visit?by Tom Foolery - Deep Creek Hot Springs, Apple Valley, California
I am a DCHS newbie with only 2 visits under my belt, and both times I've paid the guy at Bowen and parked there with no incidents. The trail down is a little bit tricky at one or two places but for the most part it's not too bad of a hike going down. What are the other options for parking places? What are the hikes in to the springs like from those other places? Can you access the trail thatby Tom Foolery - Deep Creek Hot Springs, Apple Valley, California
That's cool, I just can't wait to go back there - we are trying to see about a return later this week! I'm a little nervous about the camping citations but I would easily pay $35 a night to camp there anyways.by Tom Foolery - Deep Creek Hot Springs, Apple Valley, California
How often do they hike down and issue citations? We were just there for the day, but our friends spent a couple nights there in a tent and were never bothered.by Tom Foolery - Deep Creek Hot Springs, Apple Valley, California
I was one of the mud people along with my wife and a couple of friends. Specifically there was no LSD involved but I'll just leave it at that. We will have to check out the goings on upstream next time we head down. It's such a magical place on so many levels, all I can think about is our next visit. The creek, the pools, the mud, the sun, the hip naked people, the dragonflies, all of it coby Tom Foolery - Deep Creek Hot Springs, Apple Valley, California
Thanks - I think we did well and got lucky by going down mid-week. I've never been anywhere like Deep Creek before - I don't get sappy and emotional about many things but being there really affected me, and the only thing I could think of after the hike back up was, when can I go back? If there had been a party atmosphere it might have lessened my experience, although I would still be dying toby Tom Foolery - Deep Creek Hot Springs, Apple Valley, California
Hi all - We just hiked down to Deep Creek for the first time on Thursday. We could only spend the day but we were blown away and can't wait to go back. It was relatively quiet Thursday, a few small groups and some singles but mostly quiet. Are the weekends usually super busy with lots of partiers, or is this place quiet all the time? We want to go back but we prefer a more laid back quietby Tom Foolery - Deep Creek Hot Springs, Apple Valley, California
