Los Padres National Forest officials announced that maintenance and repair work on West Cuesta Ridge Road (also known as TV Tower Road) will begin on January 19, 2016. Due to safety concerns hikers, mountain bikers and other recreationists are advised to refrain from entering the area until the road maintenance is completed. West Cuesta Ridge Road (Forest Road No. 29S28) is currently closed by Forest Order 15-12 to public motorized vehicles until road repairs are completed. Completion of the road work is expected by March 1, 2016; however road reopening may be delayed if there is persistent wet weather.
The West Cuesta Ridge Road begins at the junction of U.S. Highway 101 at Cuesta Grade Summit and West Cuesta Ridge Road, and continues 7.1 miles northwesterly to Tassajera Peak.
“The US Forest Service is pleased to be partnering with Pacific Gas and Electric (PG&E) to complete these essential road repairs for safe motorized access into this important area for recreation, natural resources and communication infrastructure,” said Santa Lucia District Ranger Nathan Rezeau. “We greatly appreciate our community’s patience and understanding as we work through these road repairs as quickly as possible.”
