It is perfectly acceptable under virtually all religious frameworks for natural catastrophies to cull population, but not for planned reduction (even excluding cullng, just control). We just don't want to and won't, forget it, it won't happen. To die starving is noble. To control population is fascist. Culling by catastrophy is the path of our choice.
