It seems that a person needs to be directly affected by a Government decision for that person to be at a point of decision. The decision to take action, or not take action, or leave the scene.
This decision to implement these fees nationally will result in more citizens being faced with this decision.
There may be another approach to this issue by examining the money motivations that are driving this campaign. The Forest Service and the business interests have a profit motivation for this program.
And as the program is implemented the true intentions of the parties involved will be more clearly demonstrated by their actions.
The bigger picture is that our elected representatives are mostly representing business interests in their decisions. The businesses contribute to their campaigns and pay for influence. Then the other elected representatives receive money from the environmentalists who have also gained political clout.
In the future (I predict) a clash between the environmentalists and the business interests over the use of public lands.
