Wait a minute! i just called up the spillway on Bing Maps. Apparently, I was looking at the spillway in reverse. When I took those pictures i had stopped at the overlook where there was a diorama describing the area, before it (the diorama) was vandalized and destroyed by grafitti. I was alone, and getting a little nervous, so I didn't continue down to the area of Lake Arrowhead Rd, where, apparently, the shooting occured. Had i gone to the bottom I would have realized the spillway is to control the Mojave where it joins Deep Creek, not the other way around. Such an awesome area. Too bad it was getting trashed even back then. I've often told my wife if she ever wants to get rid of me just move us to this area. I'll buy myself a jeep (or get a burro...!!!) and she'll never see me again
