I hiked to Deep Creek yesterday ( 12-15 ) and was not expecting rain for the day but after noon dark clouds moved in and it began to rain. I got in some shelter under a granite overhang along the creek and ate my lunch while it continued to rain, sometimes hard for about an hour and a half. Finally it seemed like it was letting up so I began to hike out of the canyon and I came across fresh snow fall in areas above the 4000 foot level. When I got to the top of the canyon the sun came out briefly before dipping once again behind dark clouds over the Mt Baldy area just before sunset. As I was getting in my vehicle to drive out a few snow flakes were falling and my truck outside temp said 35 degrees.
