Regarding crossing the creek at DCHS, when I arrived at around noon on my recent hike, it was warm enough that there was no ice on the rocks at the rock crossing area just upstream from the Arizona Pool. A couple of the rocks I stepped on while crossing were wet because of some water splashing on them. Be careful of hard to see ice on the rocks as you could take a bad spill. When I left I opted to wade the creek across to the beach in front of the main hotpool area. If you angle from the Crab Cooker area across the creek in about a 45 degree angle it will keep you in pretty shallow water, maybe about mid thigh deep. The creek water was quite chilly of course, but not intolerable.
