I will be down in the eastern tropical pacific for a couple of weeks in January. This summer was an el nino with exotic species such as dorado being caught as far north as the Channel Islands. Someone caught a wahoo about 110 miles southwest of San Diego and that is way far north from this species usual range.
Often times, an el nino is associated with a dip in the jet stream that allows Pacific storms to soak California with rain. Time will tell.
