Actually, the way I go to the Caliente does not involve taking San Marcos Pass Road. I take the shortcut that saves quite a few miles. Nevertheless, San Marcos Pass was recently closed due to a pretty gnarly rockslide. 24 inches is a lot of rain. One other locale in SoCal had 31 inches. I forgot the name -Ophid Flat or something like that. Lytle Creek probably was up there in the rainfall amounts also.
