Just came from the springs. The 6 bags I left on 05/25/2013 were still there by the sign on the pool side of the creek. Somebody added more trash so the bags became too heavy to take out. I made 9 out of 6 and double bagged some of them. Throughout the day I collected 14 more bringing the total count to 21 but since some people were taking them, there have been only 12 left + 2 torn sleeping bagsby Sam D. - Deep Creek Hot Springs, Apple Valley, California
I just came from the springs. It was a pretty busy day with over 100 hotspringers. I expected to see some of the trash I collected on my previos visit but it was all gone. Whoever did it, please accept my eternal grattitude . There was less trash around the springs than I expected as well. There must've been some sort of a cleanup effort. I sincerely appreciate the effort. Neverthelesby Sam D. - Deep Creek Hot Springs, Apple Valley, California
Sorry to hear your tools and hoses got stolen. I do appreciate the beauty and occasional tranquility of the place and trust me I do not look at the springs through some trash glasses. Nevertheless, I do not like to soak while trash is all around me.by Sam D. - Deep Creek Hot Springs, Apple Valley, California
When I left on Sat there were 7-8 bags hanging from the sign. We're making progress unless somebody relocated the bags to the Bowen Ranch side. Did you happen to notice how many bags were there?by Sam D. - Deep Creek Hot Springs, Apple Valley, California
If anybody going to the springs in the near future, could you bring some cardboard/heavy stock paper and a marker to make 2 signs (one for each pile) asking to 1) Not add trash to the bags but carry it out. 2) Asking people for help to carry out the bags.by Sam D. - Deep Creek Hot Springs, Apple Valley, California
I just came back from DCHS. If you recall, 3 weeks ago I collected 11 bags of trash at the hot springs leaving 10 of them by the sign. Only 4 got carried out, so I was “greeted” upon arrival by remaining 5 torn bags that are now at the Bowen Ranch side of the beach. I replaced all torn bags splitting some of them into smaller bags as the bags accumulated additional trash. I was afraid thaby Sam D. - Deep Creek Hot Springs, Apple Valley, California
I just came from the springs. The temperature today reached 94F but light wind made it very pleasant. The textile to nakid ratio was 60:40 with Camping Bares taking credit for paving the way( usually the ratio is like 90:10 on weekends). A gatekeeper at the Bowen Ranch told me that there was a cleanup effort a day or two before. Indeed I could not find too much trash in the near vicinity oby Sam D. - Deep Creek Hot Springs, Apple Valley, California
In 2012 Remington visitors hid under boulders for 2 hrs while 2 retards were target practicing in the parking lot sending bullets across the river, pools and freeway. Police which usually has no problem finding the place to harass CO folks could not find the springs for 2 hours until the morons run out of bullets. Discharging a weapon should be reported and punished. BTW, 10 tents at the sby Sam D. - Deep Creek Hot Springs, Apple Valley, California
lbcalrr, I did not go. Without any road report I could not justify taking a 3.5 hrs drive each way just to get stuck in my sedan. With all the recent rains I think I'll ask again when I am ready to go.by Sam D. - Deep Creek Hot Springs, Apple Valley, California

Hi! Appreciate any info on the BR road condition including the road from the house to the parking lot. Many thanks in advance.by Sam D. - Deep Creek Hot Springs, Apple Valley, California

Paul, do you know Ranger Burns email?by Sam D. - Deep Creek Hot Springs, Apple Valley, California
Can we still forward the video to Ranger Burns? Don't you love that the caption to the video refers to DC volunteers org? I encoutered lots of people who say, "I just leave my trash as is cause there is a group that takes care of things". This guy gives general location and then shows furniture burning. I bet a bunch of morons are gonna infer that it's ok to burn shit at the springs.by Sam D. - Deep Creek Hot Springs, Apple Valley, California

Hi! I just wanted to thank all the people who helped me nurse my dead battery and went out of their way to give me a jump start. I sincerely appreciate your help. It took me 1.5 hrs today to come down. I collected 1.5 large bags of trash before giving up on the last leg of the trail due to some heat exhaustion. At the springs I spent few hours collecting trash from the lower upstream portioby Sam D. - Deep Creek Hot Springs, Apple Valley, California
Well, I certainly did not expect so much attention. All people brought lots of good points and I guess any reaction should be based on circumstances. I think we flogged the horse so let's freeze the thread a move on.by Sam D. - Deep Creek Hot Springs, Apple Valley, California
My 2 cents is yes, legally, one has the right to use cameras and phones on the beach but should he? It’s like building a masque near the World Trade Center. Of course, legally it can be built but should it be built? I was at the Deep Creek years ago with this girl who worked for a senatorial campaign. She could not be linked to any scandals. She alerted me to the fact that some guy took her nby Sam D. - Deep Creek Hot Springs, Apple Valley, California
Well, both S. and N. Passes are completely washed out. Your report contains outdated info. If somebody takes North or South Pass it can lead to trouble. I would emphasize a link to NPS Morning Report (pdf) that contains pretty up to date road info: http://www.nps.gov/deva/loader.cfm?csModule=security/getfile&pageid=439529by Sam D. - California Hot Springs
If he has a hard time carrying extra 10-15 lbs he should stay home at least until the weather cools down a bit. His idea of hiking to the springs looks like a recipe for yet another helicopter rescue. We're just trying to warn him of dangers. The hike back is strenuous enough without any carry ons.by Sam D. - Deep Creek Hot Springs, Apple Valley, California
Yeah, if one has a hard time carrying 10 extra lbs, perhaps the person should avoid the hike alltogether.by Sam D. - Deep Creek Hot Springs, Apple Valley, California

Link Can somebody please explain me this logic – the population of endangered species has to decrease in order for the vehicular access to the springs and numerous camp sites to reopen??? Should I go and stomp some of them to speed it up? BTW, in my years of driving to the springs I’ve never seen any toads or tadpoles let alone dead toads.
