Sam and Jobe make good points. That said, Deep Creek is open to the public and we live in the age of the Internet. Deep Creek info and trip reports will and do appear on Alltrails, Reddit, Instagram, YouTube, TikTok and all over the place. People will discover this hidden gem. The question is what kind of people will come. For a long time the unmoderated Deep Creek Reddit forum had drifted to posby skittles - Deep Creek Hot Springs, Apple Valley, California
Thanks for the report! This is helpful. We look forward to visiting Deep Creek soon--maybe in early March.by skittles - Deep Creek Hot Springs, Apple Valley, California
Someone posted on All Trails that the road to Bowen Ranch is washed out after the rains. Is this true or is it accessible? Thanks! https://www.alltrails.com/trail/us/california/deep-creek-hot-springs-trailby skittles - Deep Creek Hot Springs, Apple Valley, California
Saw two unsettling, cautionary news articles about Deep Creek this week. A woman fainted while hiking out from the springs and was rescued by helicopter. And an elderly hiker died on Hot Springs trail. https://www.redlandscommunitynews.com/news/public_safety/sheriff-s-helicopter-and-firefighters-rescue-woman-who-fainted-on-deep-creek-trail/article_71891f22-0480-11ed-ba20-1f0e4e1f66f3.html httby skittles - Deep Creek Hot Springs, Apple Valley, California
Thanks! We will try it. Seems like there are lots of small clearings too.by skittles - Deep Creek Hot Springs, Apple Valley, California
Hi. We (a couple) visited Deep Creek this weekend. Awesome time! But we have a dumb question. We hiked to the springs, and waded across the creek. No problem. We ambled up to the first two pools. But then hesitated. We saw people on a "beach" further on and have read about other pools. But the only way there seemed to be over some difficult to navigate rocks. Is there an easier way to aby skittles - Deep Creek Hot Springs, Apple Valley, California
Looking at weather reports, forecasts vary. For example, this coming weekend is supposed to be in the low 60s. What do people consider too cold or too hot? How does the crowd change with the weather? Is 60 too cold to go? Thanks!by skittles - Deep Creek Hot Springs, Apple Valley, California
Thank you for the info. Question: Some friends and I were thinking of going to Deep Creek this weekend. With the incident is it safe now? Or would it be better to wait until it all pans out? We do not like drama in such a beautiful place.by skittles - Deep Creek Hot Springs, Apple Valley, California
Both the original Bowen Ranch entrance and the new campground are open now. Last week we went in through the original entrance. $5 a person. Mike has improved the road (thank you, Mike) to two new parking areas and he gives you a map. Yes, this is a little further away from the Deep Creek trailhead, but not much. And parking is easy. The lower parking area was full but plenty of space in the uppeby skittles - Deep Creek Hot Springs, Apple Valley, California
Indeed. Good idea. Thanks! Just thought there might be some boots-on-the-ground reports here. I just went to the Forest Service website, and they have marked the Deep Creek Hot Springs as "open." So it looks like a go! Nice. https://www.fs.usda.gov/recarea/sbnf/recarea/?recid=34152by skittles - Deep Creek Hot Springs, Apple Valley, California
As noted elsewhere, the DCHS and PC trails, etc., were closed for awhile by the forest service because of high fire danger. Temps have now dropped and the fire went elsewhere. Does anyone know if the forest service has reopened the trails? Is this weekend and next week a green light? Any suggestions? Thanks!by skittles - Deep Creek Hot Springs, Apple Valley, California
Thanks! We will check it out. Was just a little worried that it would be too hot to be enjoyable. We do not mind other people at all, just careful about the heat and safety.by skittles - Deep Creek Hot Springs, Apple Valley, California
I am fairly new here. My friends and I (three of us) have enjoyed four visits to Deep Creek Hot Springs, but each time we went on a relatively cooler day (by cooler I mean in the 80s). Looks like temps will reach the 90s and even triple digits over the next few weeks. Obviously, we would take a lot of water, lotion, etc. But we are wondering if people still visit DCHS on the hottest days. Also doby skittles - Deep Creek Hot Springs, Apple Valley, California
