Very bushy at Deep Creek back in the 70'sby nekkid1964 - Deep Creek Hot Springs, Apple Valley, California
Man, I go on Monday and you guys all go Thursday. Nude day when you are there and textile day when I am there. It was cooler for me though. 85 degrees max. Wind made it cooler. I have found that the Bradford side is shadier than the Bowen side. And, yes, the straight ahead route at the barbed wire fence is the less steep way. Though it is still steep. And a tough hike on the wayby nekkid1964 - Deep Creek Hot Springs, Apple Valley, California
Yep, weekends are busiest. But it is rarely super busy. I would say probably holiday weekends. This weekend will have some nudist groups down there so it will have a more naked vibe. That is my favorite time.by nekkid1964 - Deep Creek Hot Springs, Apple Valley, California
Freehiked in the Bradford trail on this quickly arranged day-off hike. Last time I came in on the Bradford side there were no cars parked there when I set out and when I returned, also saw no cars while I drove in or out or while I prepared. This time there was a car already parked there, one drove by just to look at the end of the road sign and there were three cars there when I drove away.by nekkid1964 - Deep Creek Hot Springs, Apple Valley, California
I read about this in AAA Westways magazine. The writer and his family did not partake sans clothing, or at least didn't show it or mention it. How is this hot springs for those of us that want to go ther naked? Is it much of a hike? Or is the parking right there?by nekkid1964 - U.S.A. Hot Springs
So mi biggest question is how do you get the chopper to come get you? Cell doesn't work down at the creek, at least mine doesn't. Do you send someone to run up to a spot that gets a signal? That seems like 30 mins. at best. Are you dead if you walk back to Bowen on your own? That take to long and too much venom passing around?by nekkid1964 - Deep Creek Hot Springs, Apple Valley, California
I hiked the steeper trail to the right both down and up when I did it, only by accident. I heard about the wrong turn later. The steep side it a bear coming up and going down, but now seeing the less steep ridge I can assure anyone that it is not much different than Bowen Ranch. I have never hiked to the springs wearing clothes.by nekkid1964 - Deep Creek Hot Springs, Apple Valley, California
Yes, I free hiked Bradford from my car parked on the roadside to the springs and back. It's a bit longer so it takes a little bit more time.by nekkid1964 - Deep Creek Hot Springs, Apple Valley, California
Hope you have a great time on you visit. Got my wife to the springs for the first time a few weeks back. Though I always free hike she wore her clothes until the creek crossing. Her clothes then remained off until we got back to the truck. Her first free hike. Let us know when you go and if it isn't too hot we might join you. Wife likes her outdoor adventures when it isn't over the midby nekkid1964 - Deep Creek Hot Springs, Apple Valley, California
Several nudist groups had plans to hit the springs last Sunday. I decided it was a good time to get my wife down there and for her to try freehiking. Met some nice folks from the NITOC group from Orange County at the ranch and hiked down with them. I was freehiking from the instant I got out of the car, the wife was waiting for her comfort level to rise. It was a pleasant group, we had greaby nekkid1964 - Deep Creek Hot Springs, Apple Valley, California
The parking at Bradford trail is of the side of the road variety. I can't imagine any car other than another hiker will come by. It is not a through road. Maybe the CHP comes all the way out there and U-Turns back. I never waited there long enough to know. I imagine you could camp in you car or truck. No cars were parked there the day I hiked it. Coming or going.by nekkid1964 - Deep Creek Hot Springs, Apple Valley, California
Yea, generalities were what I was looking for. Also, the general freehike vibe. I was one of several freehiking in June, then the only one in July. But no one seemed to mind, so that's cool. I wondered if during the cold season more hiked cloted before being free at the creek. No way I would avoid the fun of being free at the creek. But it is always more fun the more free people thereby nekkid1964 - Deep Creek Hot Springs, Apple Valley, California
Is there much traffic at the springs mid-week this time of year? I am thinking of a Wednesday trip possibly next week. It will warm up a little so I might be able to freehike. That is my prefered way to hike. I've only been there in the warmer months so far.by nekkid1964 - Deep Creek Hot Springs, Apple Valley, California
Did you free hike down with the group you met at the top? (1 guy and 2 girls) Did they?by nekkid1964 - Deep Creek Hot Springs, Apple Valley, California
I have never hiked to the springs with clothes on. I hiked Bradford the first time I went and no one ever passed me in either direction so it was easy to feel comfortable. The first time I hiked Bowen was by myself and I felt a bit uncomfortable as there were no other freehikers. No one bothered me when I passed or was passed but since it was the first time I had some issues in my head.by nekkid1964 - Deep Creek Hot Springs, Apple Valley, California
Was the weather warm enuff for freehiking? Any shock from them? Were you free hiking. I freehiked that way the time I met you. Quoteneogeo Great hiker. Yeah, the trail is very solitary. I saw no one as I said on the way in. On the way out, no one until the very last minutes. It was almost a shocker to come around a bend and encounter a young man followed by his parents on the trail. You betcha! Hat, boots and a smile.by nekkid1964 - Deep Creek Hot Springs, Apple Valley, California
Great day for a hike. Warm but not too hot. Busy at the springs but nice folks that all enjoyed themselves. I arrived late, around 11am. Missed my group (if anyone made it) and missed meeting up with the OC Naturist group. Hiked alone (not alone really, several groups in front and back) on a busy day at the springs. Lone naked hiker on the way down. Passed by and was passed by a few groupsby nekkid1964 - Deep Creek Hot Springs, Apple Valley, California
All I can say is Nude, Nude, Nude, Nude, Nude...Naked. That is the only way to do DCHS. Get out of you car, take off your clothes, enjoy the rest of the day. I've done it twice now, once down each trail and have never had a stich of clothing on once I got out of the car until I got back to the car for the trip home. I wish I could just walk out my front door naked, get in my car, dby nekkid1964 - Deep Creek Hot Springs, Apple Valley, California
Yep, Bradford is good coming that way. I came from Big Bear and hiked that trail. I ate breakfast in Running Springs before I headed out. It is difficult but doable. I enjoyed that route because no one was hiking that trail at all. I prefer to hike naked when I can. I have hiked naked both time I went to DCHS. I met Jobe at the springs the day I came in from Bradford. The trail is easyby nekkid1964 - Deep Creek Hot Springs, Apple Valley, California

Yahoo Freehiking group is planning a trip to DCHS 10/10/2011 FreehikeCA Current plan is to meet at the Bowen Ranch trail head at 9am. All welcome to join in the fun. Commemorate Columbus' discovery of the Americas (the best of the FREE world) by FREE hiking. Hope to see you all there.by nekkid1964 - Deep Creek Hot Springs, Apple Valley, California
Yep, I have to agree on the nudity thing. You can go almost anywhere is the world and find clothed people. Malls, trains, work, swimming, hiking, sunbathing, beaches, rivers, water parks, amusement parks, monuments, showering... You name it and you can find clothed people. All people clothed - no nudity. Those of us that like to find a place to loosen up and hike naked and swim naked havby nekkid1964 - Deep Creek Hot Springs, Apple Valley, California
It was very clean on Friday. I grabbed a loose plastic bag floating by. There was a golf bag roller up the trail with a cooler on it left there but I don't remember seeing it on the way up. The creek area seemed very clean. But that was before the weekend.by nekkid1964 - Deep Creek Hot Springs, Apple Valley, California
The hike in is the easiest part. Tough on knees for the downhill but even if it was hot, it goes by quickly and you get to instantly cool off when you get there. I found that hike out at 3pm to be the tough part. Uphill and hot with almost no shade stops. Then no swim at the end. I bet hiking out near sundown is much nicer. It is supposed to get hot Wed/Thur this week though. But I betby nekkid1964 - Deep Creek Hot Springs, Apple Valley, California
Well, we actually pulled together a group hike. Small group, but a great day. The initial poll showed 12 interested free hikers from the group that were going to come on the trip. Two left their regrets on the group message board that they couldn't make it so I expected at least 10 nude hikers, and a dog (freehiking as well.) Got to Bowen Ranch at the stroke of 10 (due to poor planning oby nekkid1964 - Deep Creek Hot Springs, Apple Valley, California
QuoteGT Soaker Hey Kid, when you got to the fence on the top of the last ridge did you take the left fork or the right fork? Sounds like you made the same mistake I did my first trip on that trail. The right fork leads down the side of "Family Canyon". The left fork (easier-relativly speaking) takes you down Bradford ridge. You'll end up a few hundred yards west on PCT but not in feaby nekkid1964 - Deep Creek Hot Springs, Apple Valley, California
WooHoo! That was me. Quoteneogeo At around lunchtime, a guy came down from the Bradford ridge trail, he had been freehiking, and set up near my towel in the shade; another young couple came over and also set up next to me and sunbathed nude for about an hour. There was the old man I saw at the trailhead; and a young guy I’ve seen down there before, he is in good shape and never sits still,by nekkid1964 - Deep Creek Hot Springs, Apple Valley, California
Ok, so maybe a less crowded Friday. 7/11. I think I have the right coordinates to hike the Bradford ridge trail. Au Natural of course. We'll see if it fits in the schedule this time.by nekkid1964 - Deep Creek Hot Springs, Apple Valley, California
I like the Bradford trail idea. Seems like a good idea. I'll look up the directions. Is this one where it is safe to park? I like the idea of a 2.5 mile hike. Hiking is one of the things I am coming to do, not just hot springing. Can I hike this trail nude in peace? Or is it a hassle?by nekkid1964 - Deep Creek Hot Springs, Apple Valley, California
