It was 10:30 when I got to the Freedom trailhead. It was sunny with a slight chill in the slow but steady breeze. Perfect hiking weather. While hiking in I saw 15 people hiking out with sleeping bags. All commented that they had a great time and that it was too crowded at the hot springs. Also, I noticed that the graffiti problem reported on this forum has been painted over by someone with a canby jobe - Deep Creek Hot Springs, Apple Valley, California
As I turned off Bear valley onto Central Avenue. The wind nearly pushed my truck off the road. I could tell the weather was going to change. I got to the Freedom trail head at 1200 noon. It was very windy there also. I was surprised that some one had left enough trash to fill a 13 gallon trash bag. While picking it up I saw a deer. Standing just 30 feet in front of me. I stopped and stood like aby jobe - Deep Creek Hot Springs, Apple Valley, California
Paulespo, First of all the girls were coming from Bowen ranch. They were from LA and claimed they did a lot of research on the internet. However they thought they could get the internet on their phones for help. While in the bottom of a deep canyon. Most people know radio waves do not go there. They were from downtown LA. Jaybirdsen, Yes, they have said they will have a set aside area for textile-free camping. So, sounds to me like they are making it tolerable for every one. They want everyone to be happy. Unlike that other place. They give receipts with their logo on it too. And they have a long history of making their customers happy. Good vibes everywhere. My kind of place. Come in happy, leave with a smile oby jobe - Deep Creek Hot Springs, Apple Valley, California
I arrived at the new D.C.H.Springs campground at 9:08 am. I noticed many new things as I drove in. A @ 60 foot water tower on a large hill and a new army tent. I pulled up to the tent and asked if anyone was there because a car was nearby. No answer. I noticed a water spicet and pressed the lever. Cool clean water, ahhh. Thank you Paul, for posting this good news here. I for one can just hardly wait for my chance to drive my R/V out to visit the new and improved camp ground. Now if this heat would just blow away...by jobe - Deep Creek Hot Springs, Apple Valley, California
Wish I was smarter. I visit my grandchildren on Instagram regularly. This morning while doing so, I saw a project notice put there by ayearoferewhon a photographer who posts pictures there regularly. The picture is of a "project notice" for the new campground and residence for the caregivers. I do not know how to post it here but hopefully, someone smarter than me can post it here as iby jobe - Deep Creek Hot Springs, Apple Valley, California
Shinjopu, Deep Creek is and has been a nudist area long before the white man reached these shores. The Mojave natives roamed the desert here wearing only paint. I encourage all to continue the native tradition. There are pictures of the natives in history books. I say it is an honor to their memory. Otherwise, I just tell folks that are alarmed that," I am coming from Vegas, and I am such aby jobe - Deep Creek Hot Springs, Apple Valley, California
Due to the Pandemic, my belly is blossoming. Deep creek used to be my way of staying slim. So I headed back to my favorite health routine because my belly is bigger than ever before. I got to the Freedom trailhead at 1 pm. My phone said it was 98 degrees and there was no wind. There were no cars in the parking area. I could see no cars at the Bowen ranch either. I do not recommend any one leave their home until our government advises differently. The Freedom trail head is 31 miles from my home. I took a leap of faith to go to the springs. I consider the springs a part of my back yard and LOVE them. While at the springs I did not see anyone sharing wine sacks as is usually a custom. Or any other dangerous customs other than one couple who were obviously &by jobe - Deep Creek Hot Springs, Apple Valley, California
Once in a while I sit up at night and worry about the world's situation. Yesterday I woke up at 4 am and remembered I have sat around my house for 8 days waiting for good news from a reliable source. Not happening. Then I realized it had been 3 weeks since I have been to my favorite hot spring. I put my long johns on and headed to D.C.HOT springs. I got to the Freedom trail head at 7 am. Oh ! I forgot! I do not know if it is true or not, BUT. 2 persons who live in the Bowen ranch area said that Mike shot down the campground drone with his gun. A drone worth over 1000$. Well, All of this is what happens when I get busy and ignore the internet. I met Wonderhussy back about 5-6 years ago when she made her 1st video about d.c.h.s. Some one told her about who I am at the springs. We had a long discussion about many things. I think I have seen all of her videos. She left me her email address And I tried to message her about doing a video more similar to this one. I neby jobe - Deep Creek Hot Springs, Apple Valley, California
Sam D., The CAT is out of the bag already. Trip adviser, Instagram, Facebook, Yelp apps just to name a few are already advertising d.c.h.s. The last 20 hot spring virgins (what I call first timers) I asked how they found the springs they said "the internet." Shucks, You can continue to brows You Tube for videos of the place. Neogeo, Look around next time you are at the springs. Many people love the springs enough to keep our springs clean. If not there are enough here who love it enough to make it self cleaning. And if not there are enough retired citizens around to get busy. I my self will coordinate a clean up group of volunteers to do so. Don't worry , be happy ! Yes, it is the same much improved right turn people take to go to the Freedom trail head. Brent and Jessica have not mentioned a starting time. I did not think to ask. If you are there too early you could park nearby and pay upon exiting. At least you will not be threatened by a maniac with a gun. Or if you are tell him he is trespassing. At 10:30 am on Saturday morning I got to the freedom trail head. There were 4 vehicles there. There was no wind and it was 72 degrees.
