It's been a while since I've been down to DCHS, but I gotta add that grafitti should be punishable by hard time. Tagging is gang activity and we should stomp taggers out like the cockroaches they are. No more Mr. Nice Guy.by probyn - Deep Creek Hot Springs, Apple Valley, California
My bet is that the graffiti jerks are not regulars and won't be lugging in paint cans again (it WAS canned paint and not spray, right?) anytime soon. With that in mind, in my opinion the most effective and least harmful method of dealing with this current desecration is to A) contact authorities -- the more calls they get from us, the more they'll realize that there is a vocal group that actuallyby probyn - Deep Creek Hot Springs, Apple Valley, California
I WAS gonna say that the best deterrent to tagging is to have people around, but it depends on the people. About 10 years ago I was at the pool you mention downstream, and all but me and my gal were gang types, loud, beer-drinking. I'll bet they tagged the place as soon as we left. It may be possible to do something if the taggers are stupid enough to make a roll call on the wall, in that case, tby probyn - Deep Creek Hot Springs, Apple Valley, California
I have no idea if this gatekeeper was indeed the oft-heralded MC, who i never have met before. All I know is that he had long hair, appeared to be about 40-45, was inside the house at the gate, and that in the end he let us all (three cars, at least three of us came out of our cars to talk with/at him) go with no charge. Had a great trip to DCHS on 2/25 with Jimmy Hutcheson of Virginia (certified hot spring nut), the first for either of us in many years. Road into bowen ranch was in unbelievably good shape, i would even say the "washboard" aspect of it is gone. One slight hitch: when we came out a bit after sunset, ours and two other cars got stopped at gate by the gatekeeper and told we were now in &quby probyn - Deep Creek Hot Springs, Apple Valley, California
thanks, wizard. since time is an issue (coming from comparatively far), i think we'll do the ranch since i know that way and won't have a chance of getting lost trying to find the Bradford ridge parking. Trying for tomorrow to beat the rain. DCHS forever!by probyn - Deep Creek Hot Springs, Apple Valley, California
Hi Rick Thanks for info, is Bradford Ridge the one across the creek below spillway, access is down Arrowhead Lake Rd, maybe Saddleback Embankment (sez Google maps)? went that way once, tho water was hip-high and a bit dangerous at 100-foot crossing. cheers Probynby probyn - Deep Creek Hot Springs, Apple Valley, California
Hello All Haven't been to Deep Creek in a few years, last time i went, the spillway road (off Rock Springs Road) was blocked by boulders (what's the deal with that? Is it BLM doing that?), is this still the case? That's my preferred route. And if I have to go by way of Bowen ranch, what's their parking charge? thanks for any info probynby probyn - Deep Creek Hot Springs, Apple Valley, California
