QuotePaul P. The problem is that very few, if any, of the people camping at Deep Creek are thru-hikers. The PCT permits are designated for through hikers only, not people intent on camping solely for the purpose of going to the springs. The bigger problem is this- most of the trash comes from people camping overnight down there. Plus there is the sanitation issue. The USFS is understaffed. Mohave, I've heard from several thru-hikers that "the corridor" is generally 200 feet on either side of the trail. That would include most, if not all of the popular spots at DCHS.by bizarroclown - Deep Creek Hot Springs, Apple Valley, California
Thanks to both of you for the information. This definitely sounds like Pseudomonas aeruginosa folliculitis but I'm a little interested in why this rash only appeared this past trip. I've been going to DCHS for over 5 years and never had an issue with any of the pools, especially the Womb which is usually my pool of choice. Also, I don't think camping 4 nights caused the folliculitis...by bizarroclown - Deep Creek Hot Springs, Apple Valley, California

I noticed some pretty severe itching on my mid-thigh Saturday night (arrived Thursday night) on my lower legs just above my knee and down. I didn't experience any pain or biting sensations, didn't contact poison oak but I did sit in the Womb for a long time Friday and Saturday. I've never had bed bugs or any sort of infestation like that, but I have had poison oak and it's definitely not that. Thby bizarroclown - Deep Creek Hot Springs, Apple Valley, California
I arrived from the Bradford ridge trail at around 2am and there were only 3 others at the springs. Weather was cool and gusty up on the ridge but the winds were much calmer down in the valley although still cool (probably low-mid 40s). The womb was strikingly clean (looked like someone had just cleaned it) and all the pools were clean other than a few "forgotten" float-y tubes. Well according to the weather for apple valley, 92308 (http://www.weather.com/weather/5-day/Apple+Valley+CA+92308:4:US), the lows are going to be pretty low overnight. Also, the daytime highs probably won't be all that high either. I wish it was just slightly warmer than that forecast is predicting because it's downright hot here in LA. It's never a bad time to visit though. I've even gone down dby bizarroclown - Deep Creek Hot Springs, Apple Valley, California
What is the status of the roads (mainly the 173) up to the Bradford Ridge trailhead (I'm coming from LA)? I am planning on spending a few days down there since it's *hopefully* not crowded like it's been getting recently. I don't want to park at Bowen Ranch for $ reasons... Also, are there still frequent break-ins at the parking area for Bradford ridge? A few years back I stopped going that waby bizarroclown - Deep Creek Hot Springs, Apple Valley, California
