Mo, I would imagine it would be fine, maybe lock it up to the gaurd rail just in case. I've left my car there overnight but I know thats different than a motorcycleby Mark G - Deep Creek Hot Springs, Apple Valley, California
To get to Bradford Ridge Trail, take hwy 18 to 173 which passes along the North end of Lake Arrowhead, stay on 173, you'll pass a gun range, be careful as some turns are very sharp and parts of the road are missing so just go around the giant potholes. The road dead ends just past where you park. Wow no wonder these dudes live there, trying to hide out. I'm not sure who these guys are but I have seen a few people that seem to be there every time and whenever my friends and I start hiking out around sunset, they seem to still be relaxing, not even packing their stuff up, which would make sense of them living there and hiding out. That sucks to have people like that there but I personally hby Mark G - Deep Creek Hot Springs, Apple Valley, California
Wow after reading most of these posts, it makes sense now because pretty much every time I've been to the hot springs, I swore I would see some of the same people there every time and think "dam these people hike this every day?" But now it makes more sense, they camp out/live there, and yes that does really suck that they are part of the reason the rangers come down and the possibilityby Mark G - Deep Creek Hot Springs, Apple Valley, California
I haven't been to the springs in a while, sounds like there's some unwanted drama going around there haha. I'll be hiking back in this sunday, can't wait!by Mark G - Deep Creek Hot Springs, Apple Valley, California
QuoteTom Foolery I am a DCHS newbie with only 2 visits under my belt, and both times I've paid the guy at Bowen and parked there with no incidents. The trail down is a little bit tricky at one or two places but for the most part it's not too bad of a hike going down. What are the other options for parking places? What are the hikes in to the springs like from those other places? Can you accesby Mark G - Deep Creek Hot Springs, Apple Valley, California
I have never camped there myself but I visit there a lot during the winter since my friends there give me free lift tix and 2 summers is quite a while for campgrounds to be closed but if they need to do it, then I think they should, there are other places to camp even though it is really pretty in lee cyn especially considering vegas is hot and dry and lee cyn is like a paradiseby Mark G - Deep Creek Hot Springs, Apple Valley, California
Quotejobe First of all I HATE being negative ! But when bad things happen to good hot springer's the public needs to be aware in order to catch the bad guys and put them in their place (prison). I had a very nice visit yesterday to the springs. I saw several old time hot springer's and met a few new ones. I saw many friends and an enemy. Then I dug the sand out of the Arizona hot pool. QuoteSam D. Guns tend to intimidate people. I always get uneasy feeling when I go to Caliente HS and see a bunch of hunters stop by. My goodness the hunting season got cancelled this year. Last year I saw 11 year old girl carrying 3 rifles and throwing them on the ground in a completely careless manner. I ask her to point the rifles away from me and her dad told me to leave. QuoteWizard Mark, regarding " any " guns being illegal in the surrounding area of DCHS, I know there are certain times of the year that are the hunting season for various game, bird, deer, etc. So during those periods you will see hunters at times walking around with their guns, shotgun, rifles. I like you do not like seeing any guns at DCHS. One time years ago I was driving home aftby Mark G - Deep Creek Hot Springs, Apple Valley, California
QuoteMr_Wayne The below links are from a quick google search of "firearms on BLM Forest Service land". I'm a registered pistol permit holder. I also have a modest collection of domestic firearms (No military-type, large capacity weapons). I used to hunt when I was younger, but now realize most of my missed shots were intentional. Regarding firearms on BLM or Forest Service land, I aby Mark G - Deep Creek Hot Springs, Apple Valley, California
QuoteWizard Mark, from what I know, those rifles would be illegal to have at DCHS, and I believe it is the same for handguns. You could report it too the Sky Forest Ranger station which covers the DCHS area. Unfortunately for anything to be done it basically comes down to the USFS having to catch the offenders in the act. That kind of situation would definitely be uncomfortable to be around. If Iby Mark G - Deep Creek Hot Springs, Apple Valley, California
btw there were some guys with rifle type guns with scopes on them this day which was very uncomfterable to have around, what do you do when you see something like that??by Mark G - Deep Creek Hot Springs, Apple Valley, California
QuoteGary Dang! Why can't people pack out what they pack in?!?!? If you pack in food and drink in containers... it's a dang bit lighter after you eat or drink the stuff! Have some respect and pack it out! It's been several years since I've visited DCHS, but it sounds like it's becoming run down and trashed by irresponsible misfits who's selfishness is only out-weighed by their lack of consiby Mark G - Deep Creek Hot Springs, Apple Valley, California
QuoteSam D. Just came back from the springs. It was a late start for me so I came down at around 2:15 PM spending good 1.5 hrs picking up trash along the way. The temperature on the trail was 99.2F. I climbed everywhere I could to get to the trash. The hillsides are still littered with trash in places I could not get. Calling on all alpinists... QuoteWizard Well Mr Wayne all types of people visit DCHS. Mark G by his own words is one who't doesn't care and would not report camping at the springs. I think its probably the case that there are other rules he doesn't care about either ( no fires, no glass, no overnight usage, etc ? ). QuoteSam D. Just got back from the springs. I counted no more than 20 people at all times. Some kids were making some noise in the first half of the day but then they left by 3:30ish. I saw a significant drop in trash production. I collected only 5 full bags. This is quiet an improvement since last Friday. By the time I left there were only 2 bags left. QuoteRick QuoteMark GIs that why they closed it? People even got burned in the creek? The reason they gave, IIRC, was the area becoming less stable (i.e. hot water poking out unpredictably). yeah i remember hearin that there was more activity underneath moving around like there could be an eruption but that was just what someone told me, not an official. thats def not good though. i used to lby Mark G - Deep Creek Hot Springs, Apple Valley, California

Quotemdskibum Copy of my post yesterday in this board's Calif section HS Geological Site AKA Hot Creek HS has always been dangerous. Scaulding water can boil up unexpectedly - so I agree with the rangers on closing this one.
