I remember that flood after the fire very well, Van. When do you plan to make the hike again?by celtfire - Deep Creek Hot Springs, Apple Valley, California
Listening to one's favorite road trip music on the way to and from Deep Creek Hot Springs is definitely cool. Bringing a loud music device to play at high, or any volume at the hot springs is just not neighborly. The music of the springs is the sound of the water and anything else is a distraction. Decades ago a couple of stoned-out guys brought a monster boom box down the goat trail to the hot sby celtfire - Deep Creek Hot Springs, Apple Valley, California
My first visit to Deep Creek Hot Springs was on Memorial Day, 1970. I was entranced by the beauty of the canyon and the creek and by the hot pools. I also noticed that the many people there were kids in their teens and twenties and just about all were completely naked. There were also a couple of men in their mid fifties who'd been visiting the place since the early 1950s. The wives of the men weby celtfire - Deep Creek Hot Springs, Apple Valley, California

Ten old bathtubs donated so we hot springers can kick back with a bunch of beers and some rusting tubs. I'm sorry, but since when does the local UFS office have the money or personnel to make it all happen? I think that this whopper of a story came out of the south end of a north bound bull.by celtfire - Deep Creek Hot Springs, Apple Valley, California
Paul, Ron, Van and any other members of AANR or other naturist groups who can affiliate the May 17th, 2014 naturist gathering at Deep Creek Hot Springs with our DCHS Facebook Group so that we can attract a good sized gathering of true naturist friends of Deep Creek Hot Springs. Any suggestions you have to make the gathering a success are welcomed. You can contact me here and also on the Deep Creeby celtfire - Deep Creek Hot Springs, Apple Valley, California
Paul, in my 44+ years of visiting one of the most beautiful places in my world, "Deep Creek Hot Springs", I felt that it was time for a gathering of the clan, a clan of mountain hot spring loving individuals who'd rather wear their skin in the Sun and in the creek and hot pools, bereft of textile and animal coverings and age or ethnicity of our clan members. I believe it's time for allby celtfire - Deep Creek Hot Springs, Apple Valley, California
I hope to see many if not all of you true hot springs naturists at Deep Creek Hot Springs on Saturday, May 17th, 2014. The weather should be beautiful just like the scenery.by celtfire - Deep Creek Hot Springs, Apple Valley, California
Dear Banana, You wrote, "I just want to ride to and from DCHP in lieu of a vehicle." Riding to and from Deep Creek Hot Springs would require you to break a number of laws; riding a motorized vehicle on one of several pedestrian hiking trails, one being the Pacific Crest Trail, a nationally dedicated foot trail that connects Mexico to Canada (or vice versa). To not carry this argumentby celtfire - Deep Creek Hot Springs, Apple Valley, California
The Bradford Ridge Trail might be your best route, although leaving a motorcycle on a wilderness road may invite someone to steal it. Mike Castro doesn't allow motorcycles on his property, so that's out and the Freedom Trail also invites desert rat thieves to steal your vehicle.by celtfire - Deep Creek Hot Springs, Apple Valley, California
Dear Avadog, I didn't know you, but I was quite saddened at the news of your demise. Well, now I'm happy to hear that you'll be around for a very long time and hopefully, swimming in Deep Creek, soaking in the hot springs pools and enjoying the friendship of all your Deep Creek mates who really want to see you in living color quite soon. When you can, let us know when you'll be able to visit tby celtfire - Deep Creek Hot Springs, Apple Valley, California
When I first made the trek to Bowen Ranch and thus to Deep Creek Hot Springs, Mrs Bowen and her handicapped daughter lived at the ranch house, the same place where the present ranch owner, Mike Castro, now lives. Mrs. Bowen charged $1.00 per person to pass over her land and hike to the springs.by celtfire - Deep Creek Hot Springs, Apple Valley, California
I've had a copy of Gertie Bowen's self published book for many years. She was a good and saintly woman and a California pioneer.by celtfire - Deep Creek Hot Springs, Apple Valley, California
In the Mid 70's a drunk and stoned A-hole fired his pistol up into the hills where some of the flower children were walking. Eagle, a leader of a tribe of young hippies who all lived in the Bowen ranch house tried to convince the shooter to stop, but the fascist bastard kept up the gunfire until the weapon was empty. At that time we knew that the flower children days were over.by celtfire - Deep Creek Hot Springs, Apple Valley, California
In regards to the new pool, I wouldn't worry about naming the newly built pool if it was constructed of sandbags, because the inevitable late winter floods will wash it all away.by celtfire - Deep Creek Hot Springs, Apple Valley, California
Celtfire Bill would have loved to be there, but alas, I had a video shoot and without the money I earned I'd have to walk from Irvine to Bowen's Ranch. I hope to see some of you there on the Saturday after Thanksgiving, 11-27-2012. Cheers!by celtfire - Deep Creek Hot Springs, Apple Valley, California
My first hike from Bowen's Ranch to Deep Creek Hot Springs happened on Memorial Day, 1970. As I hiked off the "Goat-Trail" and on to the beach I saw dozens of naked people from pre-teens to seniors. I was, to use an old expression of incomprehensible surprise, Gob Smacked! I watched the hippie parade for awhile and then undressed to my "birthday suit." I fell in love that dayby celtfire - Deep Creek Hot Springs, Apple Valley, California
Seeing Deep Creek as a raging river covering the beaches and all of the hot pools is a sight I've seen several times over the 42 years I've been a devotee of the place. I will not forget the awesome power of the mostly tranquil creek changed into a behemoth transforming the very look of the valley.by celtfire - Deep Creek Hot Springs, Apple Valley, California
The last time I visited the creek and springs was June 21st and I brought a herbicide designed to cull back and possibly eradicate poison oak and ivy. I sprayed it on large bushes that were encroaching the trails along the creek upstream of the hot pools. I hope to visit again soon and check out how my eradication campaign worked. Let me know where you've found the poison oak overgrown and I'll tby celtfire - Deep Creek Hot Springs, Apple Valley, California

I visited Deep Creek on Tuesday, June 19th, with a young woman friend who recently graduated college and was granted her greatest gift-wish, a day at Deep Creek Hot Springs. We hiked the "goat trail" from the ranch, swam a bit at the trail crossing and then moved upstream to one of the lovely beaches, taking photographs along the way as my young companion gradually transitioned comfortaby celtfire - Deep Creek Hot Springs, Apple Valley, California

On my hike down the "goat trail" lat Saturday, (06-09-2012) I noticed several large graffiti crimes on boulders. Most of the spray painted messages were, "NoComp62." I will be driving up to the hot springs early (6:30AM) on Sunday, May 27th. I'd welcome non-smoking passengers who will share the cost of gas. I plan to head for home before sunset. I do plan to shoot video of the terrain and features of the creek and hot springs and I will be shooting interviews of willing participants for a documentary on Deep Creek and the Hot Springs.
