I arrived at the Bowen ranch about 6:30 Wednesday evening, Ann was at the gate for Mike, I went down and made camp so I could get an early start in the morning, about 8:30 Pm. or so there was a sheriff helicopter flying around and soon landed over by the back road down to the lower parking lot and then took off again and came over and landed in the camping area near my camp site and let off twoby paul-v - Deep Creek Hot Springs, Apple Valley, California
Oh yes this is not a sulfurous spring it just like Arrow head water only hot and there is a place where you can get water to drink at the spring, just have to let it cool.by paul-v - Deep Creek Hot Springs, Apple Valley, California

Yes you need water, there is a out house and it is $10 ea. per night. Paul-vby paul-v - Deep Creek Hot Springs, Apple Valley, California
Venus, Despite the things you read here about Mike Castro I would suggest the Bowen Ranch there is enough room so you can find a very nice spot, and the cost is not bad. Not far away there is a camp ground on Lake Arrow head road and a store. depending on what kind of car / truck you have you could go Boonie camping out off one of the way out back roads or by the freedom trail head or even downby paul-v - Deep Creek Hot Springs, Apple Valley, California
I was there Sunday before last and the water was billy button high and I'm 5'9" Paul-vby paul-v - Deep Creek Hot Springs, Apple Valley, California

Sunday was great, We arrived at the springs about 9:am and found shade under the trees and relaxed after out trip from Oxnard and the hike down. There were a lot of people there when we got there and more kept coming all morning I talked to some who said that there were a lot of people there on Friday and Saturday, I saw a number of people I knew and cot up on on past times and people were stillby paul-v - Deep Creek Hot Springs, Apple Valley, California
Seeing as this is going to be a long weekend I would not spend the night but if the rangers do come down they will be there early and let you know that it is the time to go. paul vby paul-v - Deep Creek Hot Springs, Apple Valley, California
Kenton If you live in Victorville and you want a short trip down to the sprigs your best bet is the ranch, the Bradford trail is 3 miles, and then driving up 173 to the bridge may be a nice ride it is still longer, the spill way is even longer, yes the freedom trail is shorter but there is all the things that can happen to your car, and the same for the spill way, so I would suggest the ranch. Chris, It would be in your best interest to camp at the Bowen ranch there are many camp sites and fire pits, out on the freedom trail head there are no fires permitted, camping at the springs is not permitted and if the rangers come down and they do on the weekends the fines are big,and can be up to $5,000 for each offense.camping, fires, glass, for each person.by paul-v - Deep Creek Hot Springs, Apple Valley, California

Yes a route does exist you would have to go through Lake Arrowhead and take the road that goes over the dam to the East of the lake that is HWY 173 keep going North and follow the road until the pavement runs out stop turn around and go back to the bridge about 200 yards, park some place off the road and take the path north it is easy to follow and about a 1 to 1 1/2 hr hike with lots of good viby paul-v - Deep Creek Hot Springs, Apple Valley, California
I let some people who came down on Easter with camping stuff know that they could get a ticket and they say the rangers quit coming down and no one will get a ticket for any thing, Well I'm glad to hear that they are back. Paul.by paul-v - Deep Creek Hot Springs, Apple Valley, California
Redtail, I have been panning for a number of years and spent many days up in Holcomb Valley with my gold panning partner and having lived on Bowen Ranch rd. I took my pan down to the creek many times and have only found very fine color in my pan, I would believe that above the T6 crossing you would find more color. when I lived out on Bowen ranch road there was a young couple who came from La. for his girl friend birthday and while they were at the springs it got real cold and started to rain, being scared that it might flood and they could not get across the creek they panicked and rushed across in doing so the girl fell and got all wet and lost her back pack and shoes her boy friend trying to keep-her upby paul-v - Deep Creek Hot Springs, Apple Valley, California

As I have done for the last 4 years I went to the springs to to spend Easter out in the open with God and nature. I started going to the springs in 93 and I have always gone in through Bowen ranch so for the first time ( there has to be a first time for everything ) I came in by way of the Bradford trail, I left the parking area about 8:30 am. where there was 5 cars and had a walk I will remembeby paul-v - Deep Creek Hot Springs, Apple Valley, California

shortly after I started going to deep creek late one afternoon I was faced with the cold water crossing, at that time there was a rope across the creek that we could use to cross on an inter tube as the water was about neck deep and some place near 40 deg.f., well I took that last soak and went to face the big chill, a family had just crossed before me and were drying off I had commented on the vby paul-v - Deep Creek Hot Springs, Apple Valley, California

Sunday was clear and cool with breze, The water at the creak crossing is about one and one half feet higher then last month and maby a little colder too, there were about 15 people there and a number that hiked down did not even cross after finding how deep and cold the water was but as you all know the crossing is woth it. but the sun burn is killing me. there was only one fire that I found andby paul-v - Deep Creek Hot Springs, Apple Valley, California
