MValley, As of the 18th of June, the water level was still pretty high, I make my judgment by the water level in the shower. Thanks to those unsung hero's who make it a point to pack out and pick up other peoples trash the area is pretty clean and I haven't seen any rowdy, beer drinking, late 20s guys around in a while. But then I go on Sundays and the last few time have hiked in to see a numberby AtrocityConnects - Deep Creek Hot Springs, Apple Valley, California
Jobe, I hear you on the camera comment. I'm an armature photographer, mostly do weddings and parties but my real love is landscapes. Unlike the EU in the states it's legal to take a persons photo without permission but I always ask if its a child. No parent wants to see photos of their child on the net or anywhere else for that matter when they didn't put it there. For a while I wasn't posting phby AtrocityConnects - Deep Creek Hot Springs, Apple Valley, California
Thanks for the info Wizard, I figured as much but just thought I would make sure. No fines for me thanks. I'll be heading out to the springs this coming Sunday, weather said its going to be a hot one. Going to bring my GPS and camera this time.by AtrocityConnects - Deep Creek Hot Springs, Apple Valley, California
Rick, Is it a mile from the Creek or from the Hot springs? There are a few nice flat spots near the fire road I use to get to the Ranger Parking area on the Bowen Ranch side. Its about 2 miles away from the creek and springs. If you have 4x4 you can make it to the DCHS Trail head if not there is another trail that meets up with it but that trail is pretty hard.by AtrocityConnects - Deep Creek Hot Springs, Apple Valley, California
I agree with Paul on this. Camping at the Springs is illegal and "All" who break thats law should be punished. I have camped off the fire road to the spring, well over a mile away from the springs, and hiked down in the morning. I remember back to my first visit to DCHS when I parked on Mike's property and him telling me that it was illegal to camp down at the springs and that the Ranby AtrocityConnects - Deep Creek Hot Springs, Apple Valley, California
Well I finally made it out to the springs last Sunday. It was a beautiful day, the weather was just right. After leaving my truck at the Ranger parking area right before the trail head, I headed down the trail to find a group of people hiking out with packs. They told my friends and I that they had spent the night and that there were a lot of people still down at the springs. As we hiked on we paby AtrocityConnects - Deep Creek Hot Springs, Apple Valley, California
Yup, warm sake is the only way I drink it. You can go to any Japanese's Sushi joint and ask for it, well the one's that serve booze anyways.by AtrocityConnects - Deep Creek Hot Springs, Apple Valley, California

Well no more cars or trucks for me. The next mode of transportation I'm buying will be a boat. A 160 square-mile portion of Wilkins Ice Shelf broke off in Antarctica. By the time car companies come up with a fuel efficient car we will all be swimming are way to high ground. http://www.news.com/2300-11395_3-6235636-1.html?tag=nefd.alsoby AtrocityConnects - Deep Creek Hot Springs, Apple Valley, California
Well I guess this means it a no go. I guess I'll save my anchors for more caving or Joshua Tree. But I don't see how setting up a Security line for people to cross the creek would make the Forest Service close DCHS. Someone has already put up a piece of "L" shaped sheet metal and nailed it into the rock with concrete nails and then tied the rope to a dead tree on the other side. And ifby AtrocityConnects - Deep Creek Hot Springs, Apple Valley, California
Fullertonhiker, I have been thinking about that for a while now. I have the anchor bolts but not the cable. I also have a hand drill for placing the anchors into rock. Might be faster to just bring a hammer power drill but this I do not have. I wouldn't mind setting up a meet for use to combine are equipment and put this together. Keep me posted or just shoot me an email.by AtrocityConnects - Deep Creek Hot Springs, Apple Valley, California
Well I'm all about safety first. I just read a thread about a Lady Hiker with ODC that died last Saturday hiking up to Mt. Wilson. It's very sad when something like this happens. Hiking down to DCHS in the cold rain/snow on the small trial is not something I think is safe and thus my choice not to go. It's very sad in the thread that there are those who try to pin the blame on the leader or anyonby AtrocityConnects - Deep Creek Hot Springs, Apple Valley, California
Well my trip to DCHS was a no go for last Sunday. It was raining pretty good on my way up the 15 and my friends really didn't want to hike back from the springs in the rain and cold so we headed up the mountain and played in the snow. We are going to try for the 17th now. The snow was great, it was rain/snowing up in Arrowhead and Big Bear. We got out just before the roads started to freeze. Paul, you're right. I don't know the half of it and I'm not defending Mike in anyway. I'm just saying that he has the right to charge people to park on his land and that is that. Oh and I do agree with Wiz that it is probably illegal because MC doesn't have it setup as a biz but that is not to say that it would be fine if he did have it setup and paid taxes on the money he makes. Now for his haraby AtrocityConnects - Deep Creek Hot Springs, Apple Valley, California
Like I said before I have only met MC once but I have used his land for parking a few times and haven't had a problem with him nor do I wish to. I think MC should be able to charge for his land use. He provides a service to people who do not have the means to use another route. It is his land and should be able to do as he wishes with his land as long as it isn't effecting the land or environmentby AtrocityConnects - Deep Creek Hot Springs, Apple Valley, California
Well I'm heading out to DCHS tomorrow morning. Hope it's not raining to much. The backup plan is if it raining and the river is to high my friends and I will just hike back out and head up to Arrowhead to play in the snow. So I'll let everyone know how it was tomorrow.by AtrocityConnects - Deep Creek Hot Springs, Apple Valley, California
Thanks Wiz, I have wanted to try to hike in from the Bradford Ridge trail but just have never got around to it. I was thinking about a raft like you said you use should be a fine way to cross. I don't think it's going to rain that bad but I have my pack ready if it does. I'm an over packer.by AtrocityConnects - Deep Creek Hot Springs, Apple Valley, California
Very cute! I'm going to the Springs this Sunday. I have been away to long and don't care much about the Super Bowl. Shouldn't be to many people there I think. Be cool to have the place to myself.by AtrocityConnects - Deep Creek Hot Springs, Apple Valley, California
Come on think more long term guys a bridge would be more costly then re-building the road every time it get washed away.by AtrocityConnects - Deep Creek Hot Springs, Apple Valley, California
Sorry but I had to laugh when I saw the article. So I take it that we don't have any Mike/Bowen Ranch fans in here? I've met him once the very first time I came to the springs when I parked on his land. Seemed ok to me but I have heard a few things from the other goers.by AtrocityConnects - Deep Creek Hot Springs, Apple Valley, California

Thats funny. I always research my hiking trails before I adventure out onto them as I did with DCHS. I'm not a nudest, yes I love to naked but only when I feel comfortable with it such as at home with my blinds closed. But when I read on a fellow hiker's website and then on the USFS DCHS site that DCHS was a Naturist hangout I was ready for it when I hiked down and jumped in with what nature gaveby AtrocityConnects - Deep Creek Hot Springs, Apple Valley, California
I'd like to call myself a regular DCHS goer seeing that I go whenever I can, about once every 2 months. Since my first trip I have always gone in the nude. Not once have I had troubles with anyone yelling at me to put my clothes back on. I think I would have to chock this up to always having a few of my friends with me as well as an attractive female. I'll tell you that I would also have a few chby AtrocityConnects - Deep Creek Hot Springs, Apple Valley, California
Last September I was heading down the BRT "Bowen Ranch Trail" and saw three riders. Two adults and a younger child 10 to 14, just open the gate from the Fire Road and ride in and onto the trail. I told them that it was off limits to ORV and that they needed to leave or I would report them to the USFS. They gave me a hard time as I pulled out my Garmin Rino GPS with two way radio, but enby AtrocityConnects - Deep Creek Hot Springs, Apple Valley, California
