Katrina: A couple of your contacts are outdated: 1. Roger Bruckner is no longer Special Agent in Charge, the head of law enforcement for BLM California. Bruckner was a longtime supporter of Chief Ranger Nelson. I understand that an individual name of Rob Smith is in charge temporarily. California BLM State Office Address: 2800 Cottage Way, Sacramento CA 95825. This applies for Smith, Poolby moose - Deep Creek Hot Springs, Apple Valley, California

Highly recommended reading: The current "Hi-Desert Star" online, an article called "How do you spell OHV relief? Who knows?" I'll let readers reach their own conclusions, as the article speaks for itself on topics and individuals who have been widely discussed in this forum.by moose - Deep Creek Hot Springs, Apple Valley, California
It's not that they're so stupid, it's that they got caught, and are grasping at straws. Like the highly-questionable purported vandalism to the BLM vehicle just before the publication of the LA Times article. If they did things right the first time, they wouldn't need to spend so much effort covering things up.by moose - Deep Creek Hot Springs, Apple Valley, California
Or maybe a Chief Ranger who makes his own agenda, serves only selected constituencies, and disregards his legal and ethical responsibilities... "I want to assure you that the BLM is very committed to reducing, as much as possible, off-highway vehicle impacts occurring on private lands located adjacent to BLM-managed public lands." -Linda Hansen, BLM Desert District Manager, July 22,by moose - Deep Creek Hot Springs, Apple Valley, California
The Moose read the minutes of the DCV meeting, and noted that lack of OHV enforcement by BLM continues to be an issue. BLM is an Agency within the Interior Department, and Interior's law enforcement operations are in complete disarray Department-wide. Anybody who wants a quick overview of this situation, which should upset all people who are concerned about our country's natural resources, canby moose - Deep Creek Hot Springs, Apple Valley, California
Rick, You nailed it! The BLM has turned delay, obstruct, and wear down the concerned citizen to a true art. They employ lots of people like Ms. Bedrosian to issue an official line which usually is untrue, and to keep their manager bosses from being held accountable for their actions. This is the agency which manages a large portion of our natural resources. Congress is the only real check oby moose - Deep Creek Hot Springs, Apple Valley, California
You are most welcome, and thanks for making that contact with Mr. Burns. If I see anything else interesting down there, I'll use this forum to inform you.by moose - Deep Creek Hot Springs, Apple Valley, California
I'll let you in on a little secret. BLM's Management does so many things contrary to the law that they almost always lose in court.by moose - Deep Creek Hot Springs, Apple Valley, California
Laughingbear: For your OHV documentation... There is a new, recently-used motorcycle route which crosses the USFS foot trail (3N02), about 1/4 mile South of the USFS gate. This route actually runs on the foot trail for a bit before ascending the ridges on each side of the trail. This trespass route probably originates on BLM-adm land. It looked like about 4 motorcycles had used this route sby moose - Deep Creek Hot Springs, Apple Valley, California
Other BLM offices have successfully tackled similar OHV problems, and there is no reason Barstow couldn't also. If you have a radio scanner, you can listen during weekends to Barstow's Chief Ranger fully engaged at the El Mirage OHV area, staffing OHV events, busting "Rave" parties, etc. It is not right for a Chief Ranger to ignore his responsiblity to fairly represent all customersby moose - Deep Creek Hot Springs, Apple Valley, California
You continue to believe that you can obtain attention to the local OHV problem from the same officials who have failed you in the past, and have let you know they won't help. I think contacting these people again is a waste of time. I suggest going outside the BLM, which isn't interested in handling the problem, and contact your Congressional representatives who fund the agency. I'm going to stay out of the Bowen Ranch Gatekeeper controversy, as I have some mixed feelings on the issue. Mojave Green's quote of the Barstow Chief Ranger: "BE CAREFUL IN ASKING FOR LAW ENFORCEMENT; YOU MIGHT GET IT WHERE YOU DON'T EXPECT IT", in the context it was reported during the public meeting (and considering the Chief's reported penchant for imtemperate outbursts and threatby moose - Deep Creek Hot Springs, Apple Valley, California
Things like this happen in an environment in which there is a lack of control over a rogue individual who seems obsessed with power and control. Most of the other BLM Rangers I know are reasonable folk who conscientiously go about their jobs of protecting public land resources. Sure, BLM law enforcement is stretched thin, in Barstow's case it is worse because of its Chief Ranger. A public ageby moose - Deep Creek Hot Springs, Apple Valley, California
So BLM's Barstow Chief Ranger told attendees at a local meeting that the BLM lacks the "Resources" to protect against illegal and destructive OHV use. That would seem to be what the BLM hired its Rangers to do. Didn't the Chief Ranger take an oath as a peace officer to enforce the law with fairness, and not just for his favorite customers, the OHV community? Could it be that the Chieby moose - Deep Creek Hot Springs, Apple Valley, California
