Ron, thanks so much for the posting regarding the San Onofre trip. I'm glad you all got to meet Lloyd. The larger everyone's interest in naturism, the more successful we will al be in preserving clothing optional status at appropriate beaches and hot springs. Does Lloyd have a link on his website to this forum yet? I haven't had time to check...by Paul P. - Deep Creek Hot Springs, Apple Valley, California
Here's a great shot of someone jumping from "The Eagle" at Devils Hole! Enjoy http://home.earthlink.net/~shagp/dhole/dhole-450x.JPGby Paul P. - Deep Creek Hot Springs, Apple Valley, California
Thanks Az Mike. I had no idea that is was about 15 miles by PCT from T-6 to Deep Creek HS. No wonder a lot of people don't go that way.by Paul P. - Deep Creek Hot Springs, Apple Valley, California
Anyone know how far it is from the T-6 crossing to Deep Creek Hot Springs? Also, approximate elevation gain or loss? Someone told me about 6 miles. Is that about right?by Paul P. - Deep Creek Hot Springs, Apple Valley, California
Panther Hot Springs in Idaho used to have a really neat sweat and sauna shack made out of rocks. Haven't been there in years.. I think they had some big fires and don't know if it's open still.by Paul P. - Deep Creek Hot Springs, Apple Valley, California
Goldbug is one of my favorite Idaho Springs. A nice little hike to some excellent soaking opportunities with wonderous views. My other favorite hot springs in Idaho include Pine Flats, Chattanooga, Loftus, Pine Burl, Moon Dipper , Kirkham, Bonneville, Jerry Johnson,Sacajewea, and Slate Creek. There are literally hundreds more up there. It's a soaker's delight!by Paul P. - Deep Creek Hot Springs, Apple Valley, California
I have an idea.. why don't all you people collaborate and write a book about all this Deep Creek/ Moss Mill/Bowen Ranch history and all the colorful characters mentioned here. You will then make lots of money from the book which you can then use to purchase Bowen Ranch from Mike Castro;-)by Paul P. - Deep Creek Hot Springs, Apple Valley, California
Coming to a TV near you soon, the new soap opera " All My Soakers", set in a gorgeous outdoor setting in the San Bernardino National Forest. The show is Pay-For-View only... cost is $4.00 per visit (oops, I mean episode);-)by Paul P. - Deep Creek Hot Springs, Apple Valley, California
Jobe, here is a map showing T-6 crossing. Rick also posted map on this forum under "Question about DCY brochure" Post dated 5/23/03by Paul P. - Deep Creek Hot Springs, Apple Valley, California
Gary, there are many, many ways to post pics on the Internet. The MSN Group site that Wizard posts to is pretty good. It's very easy to upload pictures. MSN provides a certain amount of free storage, I think 5mb, then if you want a lot more you pay 18.95 per year, which actually is a real bargain. Yahoo has a similar setup. Then there is hpphoto.com, and I think one called imira.com. Besides Wiby Paul P. - Deep Creek Hot Springs, Apple Valley, California
One of my fondest memories occurred at Deep Creek in the early 1970's. My girlfriend at the time and myself had the place all to ourselves on a beautiful mid-morning weekday in April. As we were soaking in the Womb, we soon found ourselves surrounded by a small troop of Boy Scouts and their Scout leader. Being that the boys looked to be about 11 or 12 years old, they couldn't help but stare atby Paul P. - Deep Creek Hot Springs, Apple Valley, California
Thanks again Sycamore for the notes. I agree with Laughing Bear that people should not use the trail that the USFS wants "closed". It especially does not look good if DCV members use it. It's counter-productive to the good working relationship with Brad Burns and the USFS currently. We should all start thinking about alternatives and hopefully come to a consensus as to what we support.by Paul P. - Deep Creek Hot Springs, Apple Valley, California
Jobe, Butterfly Beach is the public beach just south of Cemetary Beach, which is where the cliffs are. You are correct- not many people go nude anymore at Cemetary Beach due to the influx of more textile people walking from Butterfly to the volleyball courts. And yes, Bob's is still there.... I'm not familiar with Manzanita hot spring. Is it in the Santa Barbara area? Does it go by another namby Paul P. - Deep Creek Hot Springs, Apple Valley, California
Hot springs in the Santa Barbara area include Big Caliente, Little Caliente, Gaviota (Las Cruces) and Montecito. The gate blocking vehicular access to Little Caliente has just been open. It's a gem of a soak. See more pics and information at soak.net The primary nude beach is called More Mesa located off of Hollister/Puente/ Mockingbird Drives in Goleta. Still a delight ! swimbikerun, I'll be happy to provide you with the DCV brochure and other information regarding the issues at Deep Creek. E-mail me offline at deepcreeksoaker@yahoo.com. Regards, Paul P.by Paul P. - Deep Creek Hot Springs, Apple Valley, California
Also check out other excellent hot springs photo sites on the links below. Wizar'd pictures are excellent with a lot of historical Deep Creek photos. The photo site immediately below has many springs besides Deep Creek. Enjoy! http://groups.msn.com/HotSpringer/shoebox.msnwby Paul P. - Deep Creek Hot Springs, Apple Valley, California
If Mike Castro is not paying taxes on Bowen Ranch toll income, he should be reported to the IRS.. I'm sure an Agent would be happy to visit him.by Paul P. - Deep Creek Hot Springs, Apple Valley, California
It's all about greed, spelled M-O-N-E-Y. Mike Castro loses money every time someone takes free routes 4 and 3.by Paul P. - Deep Creek Hot Springs, Apple Valley, California
As I've indicated before, I support Option A as long as it is both 2 and 4 whell drive accessible. I would like to know USFS viewpoint on this.by Paul P. - Deep Creek Hot Springs, Apple Valley, California
Ron, I think you will enjoy meeting Lloyd . He's quite devoted to Blacks Beach. He loves to make homemade ice cream and free dive in the shallow waters of Blacks. He has put a lot of work into his webpage, Blacksbeach.org. I encourage you all to check it out when you have time. I'm glad that DCV will have a link at his website. Ron, I noticed in the minutes there wasn't much discussion of a sigby Paul P. - Deep Creek Hot Springs, Apple Valley, California
Laughing Bear, contact Ron at deepcreekvolunteers@hotmail.com for more information about who did the chainsaw massacre and why.by Paul P. - Deep Creek Hot Springs, Apple Valley, California
That's cool Rick..it just felt like it had your "tone". I'm a lucky guesser! I noticed there is some nimrod on there nicknamed doctasoos or something like that. He talks about going into spring areas with a machete and concrete. He appears to be a little wacko and is the type of irresponsible person who harms the cause of preserving our wonderful treasures. anyway, I'm just venting. I'll do ya one better... I saw a guy actually crap IN the creek, and he was upstream! The country is full of stupid people.by Paul P. - Deep Creek Hot Springs, Apple Valley, California
Rick, are you also logging in as user "eeek" on soak.net?by Paul P. - Deep Creek Hot Springs, Apple Valley, California
I agree with Gary that enforcement is the big issue. In this day of budget cuts and fiscal restraint, both the USFS and BLM lack the necessary manpower to properly enforce ORV restrictions everywhere within their purview, not just the Deep Creek Watershed.by Paul P. - Deep Creek Hot Springs, Apple Valley, California
Wizard, as I just mentioned in a post to Ron, I agree with you that access to Deep Creek via Routes 3 and 4 is problematic due to the difficulties for 2 wheel drive vehicles beyond the Route 3 hill. Many people, including myself, still feel "forced" to go through Bowen Ranch if they have two wheel drive.by Paul P. - Deep Creek Hot Springs, Apple Valley, California
Ron, you all may want to discuss the bush-wacking done by the USFS and the reasons for it. It would be nice if someone asked Brad Burns why this happened. Also, access to Deep Creek is a continual issue. Many people still feel forced to go through Bowen Ranch because Routes 3 and 4 are not suitable for two wheel drive beyond a certain point.by Paul P. - Deep Creek Hot Springs, Apple Valley, California
I find it difficult to believe that USFS is responsible for this. If they are, I question there motives. Is it a safety issue? Fire suppression? Or are they simply tired of all the all the problems with the "Mike Castro Mess" and they want more people to use this trail instead? I hope Ranger Brad Burns has some answers...by Paul P. - Deep Creek Hot Springs, Apple Valley, California
