Good hike down to Springs and PCT. Wizard was cleaning the pools. Several others were soaking and enjoying the day. Slightly cool air. I hiked out with Wiz and camped at the Ranch. Very cold night with wind. Hiked in at dawn. Big crowd by 100 pm when I hiked out. Follow up : I completed a thru hike of the AT last year with warriorexpeditions.org. Mike's policy is if you leave after dark you should have paid for overnight. Follow the rules and be less anti-organization. You should know he has a video of whatever you said he did so don't think other than your bullying that you have any claim. Sorry I'm not sympathetic but if you don't like Bowen Ranch access, then use Bradley Ridge or the Spillway. But know your vehicle will likely be brokeby coyote - Deep Creek Hot Springs, Apple Valley, California
I did some research several years ago and after talking with the Ranger Burns(I could have his name wrong) the T6 crossing appeared on old forestry maps. It is a couple of mile upstream from the steel bridge where the PCT crosses Deep Creek (about 8 miles upstream from DCHS. The T6 is known now as Crab Flats Crossing. The road is east of Cedar Glen. I've been away from the springs for a year since I live in Alabama. What's the least crowded day any more? It used to be Wednesday. I will be out to visit and as a PCT member will probably hike some of the trail and visit the springs while I am in the area. I have hundreds of trips down so understand how it was between 1970 and up to last year. Any thing changed? Sounds like more trash and more oby coyote - Deep Creek Hot Springs, Apple Valley, California
The lure of the hot springs filled with women often causes irrational behavior. I arrived at the springs one morning at 5 am from the goat trail. A guy just arrived from the dam coming up the PCT. He was tired. Started at 2 am and didn't know he needed water. He asked me where all the women were. I said they must still be sleeping but they may be off today! What an idiot. This isn't uncommon. I've been out on the Appalachian Trail these last 2 year and I find that some of the people are just as bad as the ones Jobe has described. Did you mean MOFO hill, Jobe? There is no one who is going to run up it. Most of those who come to these wilderness places are truly a part of a great community. But many suffer from a couple of knuckleheads. BTW, the ecoli count in Deep Creek was the highestby coyote - Deep Creek Hot Springs, Apple Valley, California

I've seen off roaders down by warm springs by the old site. They come down the trail off the Oak Springs Road. Before you get to the Goat Trail there are a couple of cut in bike trails. It is really bad when you think you are in the wilderness and a motor bike shows up on the other bank! If the idoits keep it up the boundaries will be set back a few miles and not one will be allowed in it!by coyote - Deep Creek Hot Springs, Apple Valley, California

I totally agree with Wizard on where they sprayed. If you are heading down from Bowen, you may see some rocks with a 69 on it in brown just before the jeep trail at the parking lot below the MoFo part of the goat trail to the ranch. The color was originally red for the 69 but when it was sprayed over to try to cover it, the numbers turned to the color of the spray over paint and with the sun fadiby coyote - Deep Creek Hot Springs, Apple Valley, California

I grabbed this link because if shows how different it was almost a decade ago. We were looking at watering trees and whether Wed was a wedding or Wednesday at the springs. Just a quick flashback. Today we have felons and Scotty being run down by police. It was a different time and we can all look back and enjoy.by coyote - Deep Creek Hot Springs, Apple Valley, California
Don't arrive in the morning before 7am. Don't arrive after 10pm. If you plan to stay after dark pay $10 even if your diving out before 10pm. Don't drive ATVs through the ranch. Don't drop you packed out trash at his gate but take it to a dumpster and other polite behavior. Bring a shovel and walk away from camp to use it. Great report. I've seen the road in such conditions but had my Wrangler and was able to continue on. You were wise to turn around. As a PCT member I've been wondering what condition the spillway approach is in. The PCTA has been rerouted for a couple of years at the PCT this side of the Steel Bridge near Hook Creek. Two years ago I hiked from Bowen to the Steel Bridge at Splinter and back during the day in August in 110 degrees. But I was in excellent condition, I had 8 liters of water and drank most of it, I ate a lot of salted trail mix and I was very tired going up MOFO Hill on the way to the parking lot. My GPS registered it as 17.8 miles and 6400 feet of elevation (up and down with the dips in the middlby coyote - Deep Creek Hot Springs, Apple Valley, California

Jobe, Sounds like a normal summer Sunday. The Arizona pool seems as fragile as every. We remember Arizona Mike who noticed the seep but seems to have disappeared. Nice to hear all is well and there seems little report of trash. The distress of campers is always an issue. Thanks. Coyoteby coyote - Deep Creek Hot Springs, Apple Valley, California

Rick (this forum is your place afterall), Wizard, Jobe and Paul and all other long time contributors, I am in total concord with you... it isn't about trash, it's about the 'morans' our society has graduated. They have no concern about the environment because they are so concerned about themselves. I will do this! I agree and understand the point. One still has to deal with the inconvenience of having to make a defense. That's all I'm saying. To clarify the T-6 crossing is located on Deep Creek behind Cedar Glen. Hook Road runs down to the Creek and comes to a T junction. (To the left is what is called Splinter's Cabin and the 90 foot Steel Bridge that the PCT Crosses. This is 8 plus miles above the Hotby coyote - Deep Creek Hot Springs, Apple Valley, California
I always return to the Bowen Campground. You must be at least outside of the Deep Creek Watershed. It is really a critical issue. The levels of e-coli are the highest at the springs. That's because of camping and individuals who don't follow the sanitary rules for the area. I am kind of grossed out at the way some people treat this sacred site. My last snake was a Mojave Green on the Goat Trail last Oct 29. It was about 40 degrees at 1000 am and so it was looking for a little warmth by the trail. I noticed it because a squirrel was trying to chase it away and was running up and then jumping back from it to try to make it move on. I arrived at dawn. It was cold and very windy. It felt like a March day. Made my way down the trail. Trail is in good condition although someone has busted the gate at the lower 4WD parking area where you enter the Goat Trail. This is suppose to keep the motorcycles off but I know it hasn't helped. I drove it last year several times in my Wrangler and it was fine, but one trip I came from Fawnskin to Apple Valley in my two wheel drive Nissan PU and some of the erosion was an issue. I know I could not have gone back up through those parts. If road maintenance has been done then it may be better.
