Thanks for the report Mojave! Last time we hiked down that way, we saw a lot of bighorn sheep. Always tough to spot them because they blend into the surroundings so well, but we spotted several of them on one of the south ridges. It was funny, they were obviously staring at us like we were staring at them.
Regarding crowds, we try to go to AZ hot springs EARLY during a weekday to avoid crowds. But everyone we have met there has always been very friendly. In fact, on an early trip to there back in the late 1970's, I met a girl who later became my girlfriend, and we ended traveling in my VW camper through British Columbia for several months then. So in some ways, I feel a tinge of nostalgia every time I return there.
