As mentioned, the common trail access to GSHS is scheduled to remain closed until Dec 04 (and I'd be surprised if it reopens on schedule, but they are making significant progress with the Nevada approach....Wizard would never recognize the access route he followed about 3 years ago). The alternate land route starts near a downhill hairpin turn from the rough and bumpy powerline road near the dump at Boulder City. There are no good references to finding this access route, other than about 10 miles or so from Utah St., so I don't recommend trying it without someone who knows the way. 3 of us had trouble finding it last April, even with good directions from a friend.

As of last week, I heard the pools at Arizona Hot Springs were in good shape, and on a Thursday, it shouldn't be too busy there. The regular visitors I know go on Tues, Wed, and Friday, depending on their days off. It can be a zoo on weekends. I'll be in that area during Thanksgiving week, and hope to get in a couple of soaks, myself.
