Lookout Fire in Santa Barbara is Now Contained

GOLETA, CA….The wildland fire that broke out shortly before 8:00 AM Wednesday, October 17, 2012, off State Highway 154 near Painted Cave on Los Padres National Forest’s Santa Barbara Ranger District was officially contained as of 5:00 pm on October 18, 2012. The total amount of acreage consumed by the fire was 44 acres. All evacuations and road closures in the Painted Cave area lifted yesterday evening and today all preliminary warning evacuations have been lifted as well. Remaining fire crews will continue to patrol the containment lines, reinforce existing lines, and mop up the remaining hot spots within the containment lines. There are six engines and three hand crews assigned to the fire today.
