Gate/Road Closures in Los Padres National Forest

Gate/Road Closures

Monterey Ranger District:

Overnight closures from from dusk to dawn (5 pm to 8 am) have resumed, on Highway-1, three miles south of Gorda, due to roadway erosion. The location is approximately seven miles into the Monterey County Line from San Luis Obispo. This segment of Highway-1 will remain open during daytime hours (8 am to 5 pm) with reverse one-way traffic control with flagging but closed overnight indefinitely until the road is fixed. Caltrans has mobilized construction crews for repair.

Nacimiento Fergusson Road is OPEN.

Piney Creek Road is CLOSED

Cone Peak Road is CLOSED

Jamesburg Road is CLOSED, preventing access up to Chews Ridge. Snow is reported on Chews Ridge.

Santa Lucia Ranger District:

Figueroa Mountain Road is OPEN to the gate at Ranger Peak. The gate at Cachuma Campground is CLOSED. (no vehicle access to Davy Brown and Nira Campgrounds).

Pozo/LaPanza and Rockfront Ranch OHV are CLOSED.

Santa Barbara Ranger District:

The gate at the first crossing of the Santa Ynez River on Paradise Road is CLOSED.

The gate at Sage Hill is CLOSED.

The gate at Divide Peak is CLOSED. (No vehicle access to Upper Santa Ynez Recreation area).

Ojai District:

HWY 33 is OPEN.

Mt. Pinos District:

8 feet of snow has been reported at Mt. Pinos.

The road to Mt. Pinos is still closed, but will be open up to McGill Campground this weekend.

Lockwood Valley Rd is OPEN.

Cuddy Valley Rd/Mil Potrero Highway/Cerro Noroeste Highway are OPEN.

The above mentioned closures are due to recent storm activity and are in addition to seasonally closed gates.

It is highly recommended that you contact the Ranger District office nearest to the area of the forest you are planning on visiting, for the most up to date information.
