Sam, I agree with DCR that you probably would have enjoyed Little Caliente better, of course providing that those drunks had departed. You are also right about the road regarding potholes and blind spots. I rarely take my own vehicle thee, but instead I rent a pickup and let it take the abuse!

If you are looking for a more tranquil experience at the Calients in the future, plan for a trip in winter, particularly mid-week. It's a lot nicer then.

Both Deep Creek and the Calientes have their pros and cons. I love both of 'em. There is really nothing quite like soaking in outdoors in a beautiful pool of hot water!
