The common parking lot for Gold Strike hot springs will close begining January 1, 2004. This weekend and all weekends until then the NDOT, Nevada dept. of transportation, will allow parking. During the week however the road and parking lot will be closed due to the construction of a 4 lane highway, U.S.93. I learned this from the project engineer yesterday while visiting my favorite hiking trail.
To those familiar to the area you may still be able to visit the spring by boat. Also if you know how to acces from an upper trail further up park service route 75 from the Boulder city dump. I will go on this route with my GPS reciever and give detailed directions very soon.
