Volunteers Wanted for Fun-Filled Trail Work Day
Release Date: Apr 27, 2011
Contact(s): Rebecca Mordini Joe Pasinato

GOLETA, CA… Do you enjoy hiking the splendid front country trails of Santa Barbara? Would you like to learn the secrets to what makes a hiking trail sustainable? Are you interested in helping in repairing a popular trail damaged by this year’s record rainfall? And would you be willing to volunteer a few hours of your time working to improve local hiking experiences while meeting new people who share your values?

If so, you’re in luck this Saturday when Los Padres National Forest—together with the City and County of Santa Barbara and community groups in the Front Country Trails Partnership—will host a “Trail Care Work Day” in honor of State Trails Day. Volunteers will meet at Manning Park, Area-1, at 8:00 a.m. on Saturday, April 30, and carpool to the Cold Springs trailhead.

Participants are strongly encouraged to bring sunscreen, bottled water, and long pants. Sturdy hiking shoes or boots are recommended. Gloves and helmets will be provided for those who do not bring your own. When the trail work concludes at 2:00 p.m., participants will return to the park for a tasty barbeque picnic lunch donated by the Santa Barbara Chicken Ranch.

Please help us to plan ahead by contacting Rebecca Mordini at (805) 698-5455 or by email at sbfct1@gmail.com
