Bees at the springs!

At the springs yesterday there were bees swarming around a hole in the cliff by the beach area which is across the creek from the main pools. I was talking to a regular and my kids were nearby swimming when we noticed lots of bees in the air and found where they were coming from. This hole is about 20 or 30 feet from the large granite boulder that sits about 50 feet back from the edge of the creek. I went across to the main pools with my kids to get away from this swarm. They could possibly be africanized bees which are very aggressive and have been know to kill people with mutiple stings. I hope they are regular bees. It would not be easy to get away quick if they did attack especially with two small children. A program I saw about africanized bees said it does no good to try to hide under water because these bees will keep swarming over the area of water your in. They respond to the Carbon Dioxide in the breath of animals and humans. My two munchkins had a great time with thier new arm floaties. They are swimming like fish now in the creek and also had a great time sliding down a slick spot with algae on it over by the main pools where the hot water flows out of the " Middle Pool " into the creek. Real nice day at the springs and the crowd was light for a Saturday.
