Residents should stay alert for mountain lions
Residents were warned Friday to watch out for mountain lions following reports that five goats were killed and another was mauled in apparent lion attacks.
The goats were killed in the 15900 block of Lime Street, near Fifth Avenue, between Thursday and Friday, city spokeswoman Kim Summers said.
Also on Thursday, a goat was apparently mauled by a pair of lions in the 8900 block of Fourth Avenue, she said.
Residents should be aware that water, pet food, small pets and livestock may attract wild animals, Summers said. Young children playing outdoors should be supervised, and pets kept indoors.
