"No treatments are proposed in the lower parts of Deep Creek,
Green Valley Creek, Crab Creek, and their primary tributaries in order to protect sensitive species, maintain water quality, and protect special habitat features. This represents 40 percent of Deep Creek and Green Valley Fuels and Forest Health Project the area. The no-treatment zones are thought to be necessary to balance the need to thin the entire forest with other wildlife and environmental needs. Limited treatments within these habitats
could be beneficial but was excluded from the proposal due to the technical difficulty and expense involved, and it was not essential to meet the primary purpose of community protection."
